Women who are too thin are more likely to experience menopause

Nowadays, more and more women enjoy and pursue "skinny beauty", believing that being thin and light is fitness, and they are happy to lose weight. But in fact, excessive weight loss can cause women to be too underweight and enter menopause early, causing a large number of health problems. It will not only affect their own health, but also the health of the baby during pregnancy.

1. Weight affects bones and brain

The so-called appropriate weight is not fixed and will vary with people's age. If BMI (obesity index) is used as a reference, a weight within the range of 19-23 is normal. If the weight is below 18.5, it is considered to be underweight and some weight gain is needed.

Women who are too thin may have various health problems. First of all, women who are too thin may experience physiological stagnation due to malnutrition, and even very young women are prone to various menopausal symptoms, such as osteoporosis. In addition, if you lose weight rapidly in a short period of time, it may have adverse effects on the brain.

There is a close connection between the estrogen secreted by women and the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain. Malnutrition may lead to a decrease in estrogen secretion, which in turn leads to a decrease in the amount of serotonin, resulting in mental problems and diseases such as anxiety and depression.

2. Too thin women are more likely to cause low birth weight in newborns

Being too thin will not only affect women's own health, but also harm the fetus in the womb during pregnancy. The most typical result is the increase in the number of low-birth-weight newborns. The average weight of a newborn is around 3KG, which is a normal and appropriate weight. However, women who are too thin are more likely to give birth to a fetus weighing less than 3KG. If the weight of a newborn is 2.5KG, the fetus needs to be observed in an incubator for a period of time.

It is said that the Netherlands conducted a 10-year investigation and follow-up on children born with low birth weight, and found that compared with children with normal weight, children born with low birth weight have a higher incidence of both lifestyle diseases and mental illnesses.

Similarly, taking drastic measures to lose weight rapidly can also cause damage to the health of mother and child. Most women advocate skinny beauty, but in fact, the correct way to maintain weight is to eat a balanced diet, exercise properly, and stick to light exercises such as walking to burn fat.
