Eight new cancer prevention discoveries: Doing housework regularly can prevent breast cancer

"Cancer really is preventable." This statement is commonly used by doctors around the world, and many research institutions have also published various new studies to support it. In fact, some simple methods can enhance the body's anti-cancer ability and keep cancer away from us.

1. Doing housework reduces the risk of breast cancer

Professor Tim Kee, an epidemiologist at the Cancer Research UK Institute at the University of Oxford, and his colleagues found that spending six hours a day doing housework, brisk walking or planting flowers and vegetables can reduce women's risk of breast cancer by 13%. Being physically active for 2.5 hours a day can reduce the risk of breast cancer by 8%. But it is worth reminding that the US Environmental Protection Agency found in a previous study that a solvent called perchloroethylene used in the traditional dry cleaning process may cause liver cancer, kidney cancer and leukemia. Therefore, it is recommended to use less dry cleaning when doing housework and use mild laundry detergent to hand wash clothes.

2. Lemon tea prevents skin cancer

Researchers at Rutgers University in the United States found that if citrus fruit peels are added when making tea, the drinker's chance of developing squamous cell skin cancer will be reduced by about 70%. The citric acid contained in lemons has the effect of preventing and eliminating skin pigmentation. It should be noted that hot tea must be used. Chilled tea is not as effective in preventing skin cancer as hot tea.

3. Eat less sausage and barbecue

British scientists have found that regular consumption of processed meats, such as bacon and sausages, will greatly increase the risk of colon cancer, especially for men. Dr Rachel Thompson of the World Cancer Research Fund, who led the study, said: "Processed meat intake should be limited to 70g per week (the equivalent of the weight of three slices of bacon)." If you just want to eat barbecue, it is best to marinate it with lemon juice for 1 hour before grilling.

4. Eat less sugar and drink less sweet drinks

Cancer cells’ favorite “food” is sugar. One study found that when blood flows through a tumor, about 57% of the blood sugar is consumed by cancer cells and becomes nutrients that nourish them. An American magazine reported that drinking just two glasses of sweet drinks a day will increase the risk of pancreatic cancer by 90% compared to those who do not drink.

5. Use your phone as little as possible

The International Agency for Research on Cancer, an agency of the World Health Organization, announced that after spending a week intensively sorting out scientific data related to mobile phone use and brain tumors, they decided to classify the radio frequency electromagnetic fields used by mobile phones as "possible carcinogens." It is recommended that users use headphones as much as possible to avoid keeping the phone close to the head for a long time.

6. Avoid unnecessary radiological examinations

David Brenner, a medical physicist at Columbia University in the United States, once published a paper stating that in the past few decades, up to 2% of cancer cases in the United States may be caused by radiation from CT scans. Long-term accumulation of radiation will cause greater harm to health.

7. Add some garlic to your food

Professor Earl Harrison of the Ohio State University Cancer Center said: "We found through urine tests that the more garlic you eat, the less potential carcinogens in your body." However, high temperatures will destroy alliin, the most important anti-cancer substance in garlic, so it is recommended to crush the garlic and let it sit for 15 minutes before cooking.

8. Drink less alcohol to prevent esophageal cancer

The latest research from Lund University in Sweden found that men over 45 can reduce their risk of esophageal cancer by 50% if they drink less or even not drink at all. If you eat more fruits and vegetables, you can better prevent this cancer.
