#千万l P创科普# "Diabetes patients", do not relax your "sugar control" during the Spring Festival

During the Spring Festival, relatives and friends gather together, and every household is immersed in the festive atmosphere. For some people, dinner parties, especially food, have become an indispensable part of the holiday. However, for diabetic patients, the joy of the festival is often accompanied by the challenge of blood sugar management. During the holidays, it is necessary to continuously monitor blood sugar, take medication on time and in the right amount, and scientifically control blood sugar.

1. Diabetes is not just a simple increase in blood sugar

Diabetes is a metabolic disease. The two most common types are type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes : Patients usually cannot secrete insulin on their own and need insulin injections to maintain life. It is more common in children and adolescents.

Type 2 diabetes : Insufficient insulin secretion or insulin resistance leads to high blood sugar, which is more common in adults.

2. How to control blood sugar through diet

Balanced diet

Dietary management and treatment are the core of blood sugar control for diabetic patients. The principle of balanced diet should be followed, with diverse food, quantitative staple food, rich vegetables, fruits, milk and beans, less oil, less salt and less sugar. While controlling blood sugar, it should ensure appropriate daily energy and sufficient nutrient intake.

Food variety

Food diversity is the basis for achieving a balanced diet. A diverse diet should consist of five major food groups:

The first category is cereals and tubers, including cereals (including whole grains), tubers and miscellaneous beans.

The second category is vegetables and fruits.

The third category is animal food, including livestock, poultry, fish, eggs and milk.

The fourth category is soybeans and nuts.

The fifth category is cooking oil and salt. Diabetic patients should also maintain a variety of foods, rich and colorful diets, ensure comprehensive and adequate nutrient intake, less oil, less salt, limited sugar and alcohol.

Healthy diet

Specifically, it means adjusting and optimizing the types and weight of food to meet one's own health needs on the basis of a balanced diet with the goal of controlling blood sugar. The staple food should be quantified, and the main sources of carbohydrates should be whole grains, various beans, vegetables, etc., and the amount of fruit should be limited; vegetables should be included in every meal, which should reach 500g per day, of which dark vegetables account for more than half; milk and soybeans should be consumed every day, and fish, poultry, eggs and livestock meat should be eaten regularly, as these are good sources of protein; reduce the intake of fat meat, eat less smoked, baked, pickled and other processed meat products, and control the use of salt, sugar and oil.

3. Following these three “rules” helps control blood sugar

Eat regularly

Eat regularly, at regular times and in fixed quantities. Eat at least three meals a day, with an interval of 4 to 5 hours between meals. Patients who inject insulin or are prone to hypoglycemia can have 2 to 3 snacks between the three main meals. They can take out some food from the three main meals for snacks. This is an effective measure to prevent hypoglycemia.

Regular exercise

Improve your physical fitness and insulin sensitivity through active exercise. Exercise should be done at regular times, in fixed amounts, and in fixed ways. Stick to a method that suits you for a long time, and keep the duration of each exercise relatively fixed, which will help balance blood sugar.

Regular work and rest

Try not to stay up late and keep a regular work and rest schedule. People with insomnia should pay attention to the time of taking tea and coffee. It is not recommended to drink them after 3 pm. It is recommended to develop a health plan according to your own situation.

Although diabetes adds some "constraints" to life, if you manage your health well, you can still taste the "sweetness" of happiness in life. Therefore, you should stick to a reasonable diet, exercise moderately, take medication on time, and monitor your blood sugar regularly.
