Eliminate "Ai Yi Mei" and protect the health of mothers and babies!

"Ai Yi Mei" is the abbreviation of "AIDS, Hepatitis B, and Syphilis", collectively known as the "three diseases". Mother-to-child transmission is the main way for children to be infected with AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis. Eliminating mother-to-child transmission of AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis is of great significance to improving the quality of the newborn population and promoting the health of women and children.

AIDS , the full name of which is "Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome", is an infectious disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infecting the human immune system, resulting in partial or complete loss of the immune system's function, followed by a series of infections and various tumors.

Hepatitis B is an infectious disease caused by hepatitis B virus infection and characterized by liver lesions. The main clinical manifestations are fatigue, loss of appetite, aversion to oil, abnormal liver function, and jaundice. In severe cases, it can develop into cirrhosis or liver cancer.

Syphilis is a chronic infectious disease caused by infection with Treponema pallidum. In the early stage, it mainly causes damage to the skin and mucous membranes, and in the late stage, it can cause lesions in multifunctional tissues such as bones, cardiovascular, and central nervous systems.

01Why is it necessary to conduct the “Ai Yi Mei” test during pregnancy?

AIDS, hepatitis B, and syphilis are infectious diseases that endanger human health. They may be transmitted from mother to child through intrauterine infection during pregnancy, infection during delivery, or breastfeeding, often causing fetal death, premature birth, or child infection, seriously threatening children's growth, development, and health, and even leading to death. However, conducting three screening tests for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis before or in early pregnancy can detect and diagnose the virus as early as possible, and block the mother-to-child transmission as early as possible, thus minimizing the chance of the mother transmitting the HIV to the baby and allowing the baby to grow up healthily.

02What should expectant mothers do to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV?

1. Pregnant women should undergo HIV testing as early as possible in the early stages of pregnancy. Once the infection is confirmed, they need to carefully consider whether to continue the pregnancy. If they choose to continue the pregnancy, they need to take anti-HIV drugs as soon as possible under the guidance of a doctor in a designated hospital and undergo regular check-ups and follow-up.

2. Newborns born to pregnant women infected with HIV should start taking antiviral drugs within 6 hours after birth and adhere to the full course of treatment to effectively prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV.

03What should expectant mothers do to prevent mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B?

1. Get tested for hepatitis B as early as possible in early pregnancy. Pregnant women with high-risk factors for mother-to-child transmission of HBV should receive preventive antiviral treatment. The probability of mother-to-child transmission of HBV after antiviral treatment is less than 1%.

2. Newborns born to pregnant women who are confirmed to be positive for hepatitis B should be injected with 100 international units of hepatitis B immunoglobulin within 24 hours after birth (preferably within 12 hours, the earlier the better).

3. Newborns born to pregnant women who are confirmed to be positive for hepatitis B should be injected with recombinant yeast hepatitis B vaccine within 12 hours after birth, and complete three doses of hepatitis B vaccination according to the neonatal hepatitis B vaccine immunization schedule in the "Vaccination Standards".

04What should expectant mothers do to prevent mother-to-child transmission of syphilis?

1. Go to a regular hospital for syphilis screening as early as possible in the early stages of pregnancy;

2. After a syphilis-infected woman becomes pregnant, she should go to the hospital as soon as possible to receive syphilis testing, standardized treatment, perinatal care guidance, regular check-ups, and have her newborn receive preventive treatment with benzathine penicillin at birth. Mother-to-child transmission of syphilis can be blocked.

Preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and syphilis is a technological advancement, but also a transmission of love, the responsibility of every family, and the responsibility of the whole society. Let us start with ourselves and call for more people's attention and participation to promote the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and syphilis, and contribute to improving the quality of the population and bringing happiness to thousands of families!
