Don’t let “Mycoplasma pneumonia” succeed again

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is a type of mycoplasma that usually causes mild upper respiratory tract infections. Mycoplasma pneumonia, on the other hand, is a more serious lung infection caused by mycoplasma infection and is relatively complicated to treat. So, what are mycoplasmas and mycoplasma pneumonia? How are they transmitted and what are their symptoms? How can they be prevented?

What are mycoplasma and mycoplasma pneumonia ? Mycoplasma is a type of minimal prokaryotic cell-type microorganism that has no cell wall, is highly polymorphic, can pass through bacteria filters, and can be cultured and proliferated in artificial culture media. It is a common pathogen in nature, and Mycoplasma pneumonia is one of them. Due to the lack of cell wall, it is resistant to drugs that act on the cell wall and is only effective against specific antibiotics. Mycoplasma pneumonia, also known as Mycoplasma pneumonia, is a lower respiratory tract infection caused by Mycoplasma pneumonia and is contagious. Smoking, infants and young children, and low immunity are high-risk factors for the disease.

How is mycoplasma pneumonia transmitted ? Mycoplasma pneumonia patients and carriers of mycoplasma pneumonia are the main sources of infection. Mycoplasma pneumonia can be transmitted through droplets and direct contact. The incubation period is about 1-3 weeks. It is contagious during the incubation period and several weeks after the symptoms are relieved. Daily contact between healthy people and patients can easily cause transmission and infection. The general population is susceptible, and it is more common in autumn and winter in northern China, mainly seen in children and adolescents.

What are the symptoms of mycoplasma pneumonia infection ? Fever and cough are the main clinical manifestations, which may be accompanied by headache, runny nose, sore throat, earache, etc. Fever is mainly moderate to high fever, and persistent high fever indicates a serious condition; cough is more severe, generally dry cough, more severe at night, and cough may continue for 1-2 weeks after the fever subsides, or even longer.

What are the differences between mycoplasma pneumonia and influenza ? Commonalities: Both are respiratory infections, so both will have symptoms such as fever and cough. Differences: Influenza patients have more severe systemic symptoms, such as high fever, which progresses quickly; in addition, they will also have symptoms such as fatigue, headache, and muscle aches. Mycoplasma pneumonia patients will have a severe, irritating dry cough as the course of mycoplasma infection progresses; serum antibody testing, nucleic acid testing and other methods can effectively diagnose whether they have mycoplasma pneumonia.

How to prevent Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection ? There is currently no vaccine to prevent Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, so prevention is crucial. Maintain good personal hygiene habits, wash hands and gargle frequently, exercise moderately, get enough sleep, eat a healthy diet, and comprehensively improve immunity and resistance. Do not share towels, tableware and other personal items with patients infected with Mycoplasma, avoid excessive fatigue and sub-health, and maintain adequate sleep and good eating habits.

Parents should note: If your child has symptoms similar to mycoplasma pneumonia, you should let your child rest more and keep the room temperature at a comfortable temperature and humidity. Open windows regularly every day to ventilate and keep the indoor air fresh. Pay attention to changes in the condition, seek medical attention as soon as possible and follow the doctor's advice.
