Author: Huo Rui, deputy chief physician of Chongqing Nanchuan District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Reviewer: Deng Yangjia, Chief Physician, Chongqing Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital In the vast universe of medicine, there are always some technologies that are like bright stars, illuminating the road of hope for life. Today, we are going to introduce such a magical technology - intramedullary infusion, which is known as the "life path that never collapses." 1. Introduction to intraosseous infusion technology: the "invisible bridge" of life In the human body, there is a "mysterious space" protected by layers of bones - the bone marrow cavity, which is not only the "cradle" of blood cells, but also a new field of exploration for modern medical technology. Intramedullary infusion, taking advantage of the unique anatomical structure of the bone marrow cavity, has opened up a new "life channel" for patients who cannot be treated through conventional intravenous infusion. In short, this technology uses a special needle to puncture into the bone marrow cavity, directly deliver drugs or nutrient solution into the bone marrow cavity, and then enter the blood circulation through the bone marrow cavity. In the rescue process of critically ill patients, it is crucial to quickly establish vascular access. Compared with traditional venous access, intraosseous infusion technology has unique advantages. Especially for those critically ill patients who have been bedridden for a long time, patients with poor vascular conditions and difficult to establish venous access, and patients who need emergency treatment but cannot quickly establish a suitable venous access, intraosseous infusion technology is undoubtedly their "life-saving straw". So what are the advantages of this technology? (1) Simple operation: Compared with other invasive treatments, the puncture process of intramedullary infusion is simpler, causes less trauma to the patient's body, and reduces the patient's pain and discomfort. (2) Fast and effective: Compared with peripheral venous access and central venous access, intraosseous infusion technology takes less time and has a higher success rate, which is a great advantage. (3) Fewer complications: Since the bone marrow cavity is connected to the blood circulation, intramedullary infusion can directly deliver drugs into the blood circulation through the bone marrow cavity, reducing the retention of drugs in the subcutaneous or muscle tissue, thereby reducing the risk of complications such as infection and tissue damage. 3. Intraosseous infusion technology is widely used in clinical practice The application scope of intraosseous infusion technology is very wide. In special occasions such as emergency treatment and disaster relief, intraosseous infusion technology plays an irreplaceable role. When encountering critically ill patients and difficulties in intravenous infusion, medical staff can establish an intraosseous infusion channel in a very short time, provide patients with necessary drugs and fluid support, and win precious time for subsequent treatment. Especially for special patient groups such as children and the elderly, intraosseous infusion technology can solve the problem of difficult venous puncture and improve the success rate of treatment. Figure 2 Copyright image, no permission to reprint In addition, during the treatment of blood diseases, intra-bone marrow infusion technology can not only infuse necessary drugs, but also provide important auxiliary effects for treatments such as bone marrow transplantation. However, it should be noted that the "Expert Consensus on the Application of Intraosseous Intramedullary Infusion Access in China" clearly states: Due to limited relevant research, it is currently not recommended to infuse chemotherapy drugs and fat emulsions through the intraosseous infusion access. 4. Strict operation: ensuring safety and stability Although intramedullary infusion has many advantages, its operation process must strictly follow the operating specifications, such as aseptic operation. Doctors need to accurately locate the position of the bone marrow cavity (usually the tibia, humerus, and sternal manubrium), use a special puncture needle for puncture, and carefully check the stability and safety of the infusion channel after catheterization. At the same time, during intramedullary infusion, it is also necessary to strengthen the monitoring of the puncture site and strictly control the retention time of the puncture needle to prevent infection, fluid extravasation and other complications. V. Future Outlook: Innovation and Progress Intraosseous infusion technology, this "life path that never collapses", is not only a breakthrough in medical technology, but also the crystallization of human wisdom and love. With the continuous advancement of medical technology, intraosseous infusion technology is still being improved and innovated. This technology also allows us to see the infinite possibilities of medical technology, and also makes us full of awe and expectation for life. |
