Brown discharge during menstruation

Brown discharge during menstruation

Women generally know that when the menstrual period is about to end, there will be dark brown discharge. However, sometimes, when it is not the menstrual period, some dark brown discharge will appear, and it appears almost every day. There will be no significant improvement after timely cleaning of the genitals. So, is it normal to have brown discharge during the menstrual period?

Is it normal to have brown discharge during period?

1. Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a little fishy smell or no odor. Your condition may be caused by inflammation in the vagina, cervix, or pelvis.

2. The absence of menstruation and the presence of brown discharge may be a sign of early menstruation. If you have had sexual intercourse and your menstruation is delayed for more than ten days, you should pay attention to whether there is a cause of miscarriage during pregnancy.

3. If the menstrual flow is too small for a long time, it is abnormal. There are many reasons for the small menstrual flow, such as endocrine disorders, gynecological inflammation, changes in the mental environment, anemia, etc. In addition, it may be due to the uterine wall itself, such as uterine wall tuberculosis causing endometrial disease or abortion surgery, curettage causing thin endometrium, etc. Long-term low menstrual flow may cause amenorrhea or infertility.

4. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation usually occurs within 7 days after menstruation. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation is also called mid-term bleeding, which generally refers to bleeding between two normal menstrual periods, which may be accompanied by varying degrees of lower abdominal pain. It belongs to physiological brown vaginal discharge after menstruation. If the symptoms are mild, no treatment is needed. If you find excessive bleeding or long-term infertility, it is best to go to the hospital for examination and medication. Brown vaginal discharge after menstruation may also be physiological, which is mostly caused by cervical diseases, such as endometrial cancer, cervical cysts, cervical erosion, etc. Gynecological inflammations such as vaginitis may also cause brown vaginal discharge after menstruation. The brown color of leucorrhea after physiological menstruation cannot be restored on its own. It is recommended to go to the hospital outpatient department for routine leucorrhea examination to determine the cause of the disease.

What diseases can cause menstrual pain?

A more common disease is a disease called endometriosis. To put it simply, as its name suggests, the uterine wall that should have grown inside the uterus runs to other areas. Normally, during menstruation, the uterine wall peels off and there will not be any pain. However, if the uterine wall runs to other areas and bleeds in some abnormal areas, it will cause pain.

The most common sites are the uterus and ovaries, the retroperitoneum of the pelvis, the tissue between the vagina and the duodenum (intravaginal duodenal septum), and rare sites may also occur in the intestines and stomach, urethra, bladder, and even outside the abdomen. When bleeding occurs in these abnormal parts, it will irritate the retroperitoneum and cause menstrual pain. Cysts are common on the uterus and ovaries. Because the fluid in the cyst of uterine endometriosis removed during surgery is very similar to chocolate, it is also called uterine and ovarian chocolate cyst.

Endometriosis is a relatively unique disease. In medicine, we sometimes call it a good disease and a manifestation of malignant transformation. The main reason is that it is very difficult to treat. Both medication and surgical treatment have a high recurrence rate. In addition, it can easily affect fertility and make pregnancy difficult. At present, treatment mainly depends on the patient's symptoms, age, and fertility requirements. Menstrual pain caused by endometriosis generally requires a detailed and regular examination and evaluation by a doctor before a specific treatment method can be decided.
