Summer without worries: A guide for kidney patients to stay cool in summer

1. Reasonable water supplementation: In summer, people sweat a lot, so kidney disease patients should pay attention to increasing water intake appropriately, but not excessively, so as not to increase the burden on the kidneys. According to urine volume and physical condition, arrange the time and amount of drinking water reasonably. For example, drink water in small sips several times a day instead of drinking a large amount of water at one time.

2. Pay attention to food hygiene: Avoid eating spoiled and unclean food to prevent gastrointestinal infections. Try to choose fresh vegetables and fruits and reduce the intake of raw and cold food. For example, when dining out, choose clean and hygienic restaurants, and when cooking at home, make sure the ingredients are fresh and cooked thoroughly.

3. Take good measures to prevent heatstroke and cool down: Avoid prolonged exposure to high temperatures and minimize the time spent outdoors, especially during the high-temperature period at noon. Take sun protection measures when going out, such as wearing a hat or using a parasol. When using air conditioning at home, the temperature should not be too low to avoid colds caused by alternating hot and cold temperatures.

4. Regular work and rest: Getting enough sleep is good for your body's recovery and immunity. Don't stay up late and develop a good habit of going to bed and getting up early. For example, set a fixed time for going to bed and getting up every day to form a regular biological clock.

5. Moderate exercise: Choose to do moderate exercise in the early morning or evening when it is cooler, such as walking, Tai Chi, etc. Avoid strenuous exercise that causes excessive sweating and fatigue. Replenish water and electrolytes in time after exercise.

6. Take medicine and recheck on time: Take medicine on time strictly according to the doctor's instructions, and do not increase or decrease the dosage or stop taking the medicine on your own. Regularly recheck kidney function, urine routine and other indicators to adjust the treatment plan in time.
