The dangers of cataracts

If cataracts are not treated in time, the consequences will vary at different stages:

1. Early stage of cataract: blurred vision, decreased vision, fixed black shadows in front of the eyes, glare, color vision changes, visual field defects, monocular diplopia or polyopia, etc.

2. Mid-stage cataract: As the water content in the lens increases, it expands and increases in volume, which can cause the iris to move forward, the chamber angle to close, and the intraocular pressure to rise, thus inducing glaucoma. Symptoms include severe eye pain, headache, nausea, vomiting, and even irreversible blindness, which affect normal life;

3. Late stage of cataract: Cataracts may rupture, causing inflammation in the eye, corneal edema, etc., leading to serious damage to vision.
