Leucorrhea is often yellow and has a fishy smell

The reason why leucorrhea is yellow and has a fishy smell may be due to gynecological diseases, mainly vaginitis, cervicitis and other inflammations. Female friends need to go to the hospital for B-ultrasound examination in time to determine the condition and then receive treatment. When the leucorrhea is yellow and has a fishy smell, you should avoid sexual intercourse and pay attention to vaginal hygiene. You can learn about the specific causes of the disease in the contents of the article.

Yellow, sticky and fishy leucorrhea is often seen in the following diseases:

Yellow leucorrhea: Yellow leucorrhea is often a sign of reproductive tract infection, usually bacterial infection. Common ones include vaginitis, cervicitis, endometritis, and acute or chronic pelvic inflammatory disease.

Thick leucorrhea: Thick leucorrhea is often seen in the invasion of three diseases: candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis and cervical erosion.

Leucorrhea has a fishy smell: Some vaginitis is caused by Haemophilus vaginalis, and the leucorrhea has a special fishy smell. At the same time, it is accompanied by symptoms such as vaginal burning, pain, itching, and vulva moisture.

In addition, the symptoms of abnormal leucorrhea can be divided into the following situations:

1. Yellow watery leucorrhea. It often occurs after continuous vaginal bleeding, with a large amount of purulent and foul-smelling leucorrhea flowing out of the vagina. Advanced cervical cancer, endometrial tumors, or submucosal myomas with infection should be considered first. Those with paroxysmal discharge should be aware of the possibility of fallopian tube tumors.

2. Cheese-like or tofu-like leucorrhea. Most of them are typical phenomena of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching.

3. Purulent leucorrhea. It is yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky or foamy, and has a foul odor. It is mostly caused by vaginal inflammation, among which Trichomonas vaginitis is the most common, and is often accompanied by vulvar itching. It can also be seen in chronic cervicitis, senile vaginitis, endometritis, mesometrial effusion or foreign bodies in the vagina.

4. Urinary dysfunction accompanied by increased leucorrhea. In typical gonococcal infection, the leucorrhea is like the urethral secretion, with increased amount, yellow purulent, and showing intense inflammatory reaction. The leucorrhea caused by chlamydia in cervicitis is less viscous and has an increase in white serous cervical secretions.

5. Bloody leucorrhea. If there is blood in the leucorrhea, you should be alert to the possibility of malignant tumors such as cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. However, benign lesions such as cervical polyps, cervical erosion, submucosal myoma, dysfunctional uterine bleeding, urethral caruncle, senile vaginitis, etc. can also cause bloody leucorrhea, and a small amount of blood caused by intrauterine contraceptive device.
