How to set goals for attention training at home when you have difficulty concentrating?

Attention is the first door for children to understand the world. Later, perception, memory, learning ability, and creative thinking all require the support of attention. Many children with attention problems came to our hospital for treatment on May 1st. Attention is very important for school-age children and is related to their learning status in the second half of the year.

The following situations are manifestations of children's inattention:

1. Can’t concentrate on listening in class

2. Easily disturbed and distracted by the environment, and frequently changes the object of attention.

3. Do homework for a while and play for a while

4. When reading, look at this book for a while, and then flip through that book.

5. Sitting on a stool is like a monkey's butt, and you can never sit still.

6. He always does things in a haphazard manner and cannot start or finish.

Studies have shown that the average attention span of a two-year-old child is about 7 minutes, a three-year-old child is about 9 minutes, a four-year-old child is about 12 minutes, and a five-year-old child is about 14 minutes.

2-3 years old is the stage when children's attention gradually forms, which is also a critical period. At this stage, parents consciously play some games with their children to train their sensory integration ability and gradually cultivate their ability to concentrate.

There are many ways to improve children's attention. Here are some general ways:

1. Use points of interest

Use objects that children are interested in, such as toys, food, and everything else that children are interested in. When training, you can call your child's name when he is playing with his favorite toys. If the child does not respond at this time, pick up the toy and put it in front of the child, then gradually move the toy to your eyes so that the child will notice you.

2. Make it interesting

To make the training content interesting and arouse children's interest, we can add the training content to the game, or incorporate the training content into the written form of pictures, such as teaching by stretching fingers during finger exercises.

3. Control training time and adjust it in time

Everyone has a period of boredom. If a child spends too much time on one thing, his attention will be distracted. At this time, we need to adjust the training content in time. We can do two or more things alternately, or play small games in the process.

When children have attention problems, they cannot rely solely on external assistance such as doctors and drugs. Parents also need to develop appropriate home attention training methods for their children based on their children's conditions, providing all-round assistance to help children improve their attention.
