Zhao Huan said that after retinal ischemia and hypoxia for more than 90 minutes, irreversible damage will occur to the photoreceptor tissue. Therefore, the golden treatment time for "eye stroke" is only 90 minutes, the platinum treatment time is 6 hours, and it is best not to exceed 24 hours. When the symptoms of "eye stroke" appear, even if the symptoms of blurred vision are temporarily relieved, do not hesitate and go to the hospital immediately.

"Before arriving at the hospital, you can take some self-help measures, such as massaging the eyeball with your fingers, applying pressure for 10 seconds, and suddenly releasing your fingers for 5 seconds. Repeat this for about 10 times as a group, and massage for 15 minutes each time to increase the perfusion of retinal blood vessels." Zhao Huan said that patients who have the conditions can also take nitroglycerin tablets under their tongue. At the same time, patients should relax and avoid being too nervous.

How can we prevent "eye stroke" in our daily life? Zhao Huan said that this disease is more common in the elderly and has become younger in recent years. Its occurrence is closely related to systemic diseases such as hypertension, carotid artery obstruction, diabetes, and heart valve disease. Among them, hypertension is the most common predisposing factor, and about 67% of patients are related to it. Long-term bad habits such as heavy smoking and excessive use of eyes may also cause vascular embolism and lead to the occurrence of "eye stroke".

In addition, emotional excitement, suddenly going from a high temperature environment to a low temperature environment, staying up late to play with mobile phones after turning off the lights, etc. may also induce "eye stroke".

Zhao Huan suggested that to prevent "eye stroke", it is necessary to prevent and treat diseases such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes, obesity, develop good living and eye habits, maintain an optimistic mood, and conduct regular eye and fundus examinations.
