According to statistics, there are currently 300 million people with hypertension in my country, with an average of 1 in every 4 adults suffering from hypertension. Long-term uncontrolled hypertension can lead to cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, heart failure, myocardial infarction, renal failure and other consequences. Why are more and more modern people suffering from hypertension, and are getting younger and younger? We change our lives, and life changes us: 1. Changes in dietary structure are one of the reasons for the high incidence of hypertension Studies have shown that high sodium and low potassium salt can lead to high blood pressure. Eating 3g more salt per day will lead to a 4-5mmHg increase in systolic blood pressure. The average salt intake in our country is about 12g per person per day, and a healthy salt intake is less than 6g per person per day. Sodium salt is not just table salt, but also includes soy sauce, pickles, fermented tofu, etc. The amount of potassium salt foods has decreased. Foods high in potassium include vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and other foods. As our living standards improve, more of our foods are high in oil, fat, and sugar, which has relatively reduced the amount of potassium salt foods, which will indirectly cause high blood pressure. In general, we eat less red meat, oil, sugar and salt than before. The overall dietary structure has changed, leading to an increasing number of people with high blood pressure. 2. More and more people are sedentary: Many years ago, most people's jobs were physically demanding, and they basically walked or rode bicycles to get around. Nowadays, most people's jobs are mainly sitting, and they spend most of their time sitting. They go out by car, taxi, bus, or subway. As a result of active and passive sitting and not exercising, more and more people are suffering from high blood pressure, obesity, and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. 3. More and more people are overweight and obese, and these people are more likely to have high blood pressure: As lifestyles change, people are more likely to gain weight by eating more and moving less, which will increase obesity. Now, you can see fat people everywhere on the streets. According to a survey by the medical journal The Lancet, as of 2017, China's obese population ranked first in the world, with 43.2 million obese men and 46.4 million obese women, accounting for 16.3% and 12.4% of the world's total, respectively. For every 3 kg/m2 increase in BMI, the risk of developing hypertension within 4 years increases by 50% for men and 57% for women. Simply put, obesity is more likely to cause hypertension. 4. Family history will form a vicious cycle: Our lives have changed dramatically over the past few decades. In the past 40 years, several generations have had their parents have high blood pressure, and the probability of their children developing high blood pressure is as high as 46%. So when people with high blood pressure have children, the risk of developing high blood pressure increases again. These parents not only pass on the high blood pressure gene to their children, but also pass on unhealthy lifestyle habits such as smoking, drinking, sitting for long periods of time without exercise, eating a high-salt, high-oil, high-sugar diet, and obesity to their children. Under the dual effects of high blood pressure genes and unhealthy lifestyles, more and more children are developing high blood pressure. 5. Most people Alexander: In modern society, the living standard has improved, but various pressures have come with it. The most basic one is the various competitive pressures. Competition exists from before birth to death. There are various pressures as long as you are alive, such as work pressure, life pressure, house purchase pressure, school pressure, promotion pressure, employment pressure, etc. The prevalence of hypertension among urban mental workers exceeds that of manual workers. People in occupations with high mental stress have a higher chance of developing hypertension. High pressure will lead to more staying up late, anxiety, and insomnia, which will result in more hypertension. 6. More and more people smoke and drink: With the improvement of living standards and the increase of wealth, more and more people are smoking and drinking. There are 320 million smokers in my country. Smoking increases the secretion of adrenaline and norepinephrine, which can increase the heart rate and blood pressure. 16% of Chinese women and 48% of men drink alcohol. Long-term drinking of small amounts will slightly increase blood pressure; excessive drinking will significantly increase blood pressure; the increase in blood pressure increases with the amount of alcohol consumed. Now that we know the main cause of high blood pressure is actually our lifestyle, we should start from a young age, start from finding the cause, develop a healthy lifestyle, stay away from high blood pressure, and stay away from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Eat a low-salt diet with more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains; keep exercising and avoid sitting for long periods of time; control your weight and avoid obesity; stay away from tobacco and alcohol; learn to be happy and release stress. Most importantly, let children live a healthy life from an early age! |
