When he was admitted to the hospital, Mr. Zhang's blood pressure had dropped to 66/44 mmHg and he became confused. After examination, Mr. Zhang was diagnosed with anaphylactic shock. After anti-allergic and anti-shock treatments, his symptoms were relieved. Subsequently, he was observed and treated in the digestive, nephrology and poisoning departments for several days and was discharged after his symptoms were relieved.

Be careful when eating insects

Doctors warn that insects such as grasshoppers, cicadas, silkworm pupae, and stick insects contain foreign proteins, which have larger molecules and are not easily completely decomposed by the human body after consumption, and can easily cause allergies of varying degrees.

Be careful when eating insects, especially if you have a history of protein allergies. Mild allergies can be treated with anti-allergic drugs such as loratadine and cetirizine. Once severe allergic symptoms occur, do not take it lightly and seek medical attention immediately.

Heterologous proteins are proteins from foreign substances, which simply means proteins that are not in your body. Heterologous proteins contained in insects are more likely to cause allergies than common milk, eggs, seafood, wheat, etc. Its allergic symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhea, skin congestion, itching, urticaria, headache, dizziness, a sharp drop in blood pressure, laryngeal edema leading to difficulty breathing and suffocation, etc.
