Can liver nodules become cancerous?

As people's health awareness increases, more and more people choose physical examinations, and many people are found to have liver nodules during physical examinations every year. Many people's liver ultrasound results show that they have "liver nodules", and many people are unfamiliar with the term "liver nodules".

In fact, in layman's terms, it means one or more lumps have grown on the liver. Liver nodules is a general term, which is a general term for a type of disease.

Are liver nodules serious? Do they need treatment? What is the chance of them becoming cancerous? Today, I will tell you about liver nodules.

Liver nodules are divided into benign and malignant, with benign being the majority.

1. Benign liver nodules include:

Liver cysts, hemangiomas, liver abscesses, and hepatitis masses. These nodules grow slowly and have no obvious symptoms. Generally, surgery is chosen only for nodules larger than 5 cm. No medication or surgery is needed for nodules smaller than 5 cm. Regular follow-up is required to observe the changes in the nodules.

In addition, you need to adjust your lifestyle and eating habits, drink more water, quit smoking and drinking, and keep a good mood, so as to promote the relief and recovery of nodules.

2. Malignant nodules include:

Primary liver cancer, liver cancer nodules and metastatic liver cancer nodules. These nodules are prone to metastasis, grow rapidly and are very harmful to life.

Such patients need to undergo enhanced CT, MRI or liver tissue biopsy to make a qualitative diagnosis of such nodules to clarify their location, size, number and relationship with surrounding tissues in the liver. At the same time, do not forget to check tumor markers (with a focus on alpha-fetoprotein) to provide a basis for further treatment.

Special attention should be paid to patients who drink alcohol for a long time, have a family history of liver cancer, cirrhosis, and viral hepatitis.

In summary, most intrahepatic nodules are benign lesions, so there is no need to panic. Benign nodules should be checked regularly, and high-risk groups should be more vigilant about multiple intrahepatic nodules.
