How many months pregnant can I take a plane?

For many pregnant women, if they want to travel long distances during pregnancy, flying is the most convenient way. Some people may have misunderstandings about pregnant women taking flights, thinking that pregnant women cannot take flights. So, how is flying for pregnant women? How many months pregnant can you fly? What issues should pregnant women pay attention to when flying?

How many months pregnant can you fly?

The early stages of pregnancy (three months before conception) are when early pregnancy reactions are more severe, and it is easy to experience nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, etc. This stage is also a critical period for the formation of fetal organs. Pregnant women are easily affected by the early stages of pregnancy when flying, and there will be a sense of overweight and weightlessness during takeoff and landing, making the fetus feel uncomfortable. In the late pregnancy (3 months of pregnancy), there is a possibility of serious complications such as uterine contractions, premature birth, and early fetal separation due to accidents. If pregnant women are immobile on the plane for a long time, the enlarged uterus will compress blood vessels, affecting blood flow back, which can easily cause venous thrombosis. If a pregnant woman has threatened miscarriage in the early stages of pregnancy, or has hypertension, proteinuria, edema, diabetes, etc. in the late stages of pregnancy, she is not suitable for flying.

What pregnant women need to pay attention to

1. Choose a seat close to the corridor to make it convenient for pregnant women to stand up and move around.

2. Walk for an hour every hour on the plane to keep the blood circulation in the lower limbs unobstructed. You can also do some simple exercises regularly, such as moving your limbs and walking your ankles.

3. Pregnant women are prone to hunger, so prepare more food in advance.

4. Wear loose and soft clothes and pants, and keep warm. Place a small pillow behind you to buffer the shaking. The seat belt does not have to be fastened around the abdomen, it can be fastened below the abdomen and above the thighs.

5. If an obstetric emergency occurs during the journey, such as abdominal pain of unknown cause, vaginal bleeding, uterine contraction, excessive discharge of watery fluid from the vagina (amniotic rupture), vaginal discharge of tissue or blood clots, you should report it to the conductor immediately and ask for help.
