Deloitte released its 2018 Technology, Media and Telecommunications Predictions Report.

More than 1 billion smartphone users are creating content using augmented reality (AR), 300 million users are using mobile AR every month, and tens of millions are using mobile AR every week. By 2020, it will directly generate $1 billion in revenue, ten times that of 2018.

Before 2018, AR was mainly used for selfie filters, but in the future it will improve the real quality of pictures.

The future of smartphones is an era of invisible innovation. In 2018, the penetration rate of smartphones in developed countries will reach 85%, and by 2023 it will reach 90%.

Smartphones are useful, but they can also distract people. 45% of adult smartphone users worldwide are concerned about excessive use of their phones, and two-thirds of young people (18-24 years old) have this concern. 45% of smartphone users use various methods to limit their phone usage.

The next generation of machine learning chips is accelerating. Online media has entered the subscription era. In 2018, 350 million subscribers worldwide will generate 580 million subscriptions. 20% of adults subscribed to 5 online media in 2018. By 2020, 20% of adults will subscribe to 10 online media.

80% of North American adults use at least one ad blocking method, 50% use two ad blocking methods, and 10% use four or more ad blocking methods.

Traditional TV viewership will drop by 5-15% in 2018-2019. Young people aged 18-24 are obsessed with smartphones, PCs, social media, online video streaming, etc.

20% of North American connected households access the Internet exclusively via mobile networks, a figure that will grow to 30-40% by 2022.
