Cervical vaccination

Cervical vaccination

Cervical prevention vaccines are extremely important for female friends' bodies. They are to prevent themselves from developing some cervical diseases in daily life. After all, the incidence of cervical cancer is becoming higher and higher. If you are not careful, this type of disease will occur in your body. If it occurs, there is no way to completely cure it. You can only rely on radiotherapy and chemotherapy to control your condition.

Cervical cancer vaccine, also known as HPV vaccine, is a vaccine that prevents cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is mainly caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). This vaccine effectively prevents the occurrence of cervical cancer by preventing HPV virus infection, and can prevent the human body from being infected with mutations of the human papillomavirus subtypes covered by the vaccine. Studies have found that 99.7% of cervical cancers are caused by HPV infection. HPV can also cause other relatively rare cancers, such as penile cancer, laryngeal cancer, lung cancer and anal cancer. HPV is mainly spread through sexual contact or skin-to-skin contact.

HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact, so every sexually active woman is at risk of being infected with carcinogenic HPV. In addition, in addition to sexual intercourse, HPV infection can also be transmitted through direct contact: for example, if the hands come into contact with objects contaminated with HPV, the virus may be brought into the reproductive organs when going to the toilet or bathing; or the reproductive organs may come into contact with objects such as bath towels contaminated with HPV, which may also cause infection. HPV infection is more common among women. Data show that 4 out of 5 women will be infected at some stage in their lives. If you are infected with high-risk HPV, it may progress to severe cervical lesions or even develop into cervical cancer. [3]

Before the advent of the vaccine, the main means of preventing cervical cancer was through cervical screening, which is to examine the exfoliated cells of the cervix and further examination to detect early cervical lesions and treat them. The advent of the vaccine has made the prevention of cervical cancer more comprehensive and effective. It is worth noting that even if you have received the cervical cancer vaccine, you should still undergo regular screening. There are more than 100 subtypes of HPV virus, and more than 10 high-risk subtypes associated with cervical cancer, and the vaccine only targets some of them. [3]

Human papillomavirus is a type of virus in the papillomavirus family, abbreviated as HPV. There are more than 100 different types of HPV known, most of which are considered "low risk" and not associated with cervical cancer. However, there are 14 HPV types that are classified as "high risk" because they have been shown to cause almost all cervical cancers. Among them, the two most risky virus strains, HPV-16 and HPV-18, can cause about 70% of cervical cancer cases.
