We all know that water is a very important component of the body and is essential for maintaining normal physiological functions. If you drink less water on a daily basis, you will increase the risk of gout, urinary tract infection, kidney stones, constipation, obesity and other diseases. The latest research also found that insufficient water intake can significantly increase the risk of cognitive impairment.

Recently, a research team from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital conducted a study on the relationship between beverage consumption and cognitive impairment in middle-aged and elderly people. The results showed that drinking water, tea, coffee, and milk can reduce the risk of cognitive impairment. However, if the amount of water you drink every day is too little, it will increase the risk of cognitive impairment.

So how much water is enough to drink every day? According to the recommendations in the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2022)", adult men should drink at least 1700 ml of water a day, and adult women should drink 1500 ml of water a day .

Moreover, it is best not to drink sugary drinks when we drink water. Studies have found that drinking too much sugary drinks not only increases the risk of hair loss, but is also associated with a higher risk of dementia .

Therefore, in the hot summer, we must ensure adequate drinking water. Choose more healthy drinks such as boiled water, light tea, milk, coffee, scented tea, and mung bean soup, and also drink less sugary drinks.
