Protecting your liver is protecting your life! If you have a bad liver, you should avoid these 9 common foods

For some people, wine is spiritual food and a source of happiness. When you are in a bad mood, you can have a drink; when you are happy, you should have a drink!

Recently, Mr. Wang from Nanjing developed critical alcoholic hepatitis after drinking for 6 hours continuously while partying with friends.

It is understood that on the day of the party, Mr. Wang and his friends drank from 8 pm to 4 am, drinking red, yellow and white wine. In just 6 hours, they drank more than 800g of white wine alone.

After a night of heavy drinking, Mr. Wang collapsed. He felt generally unwell, had a poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, and obvious fatigue. A check-up at the hospital showed that his serum alanine aminotransferase was as high as 7807U/L (critical) (normal value <40U/L), serum aspartate aminotransferase was 8208U/L, serum total bilirubin was 59.7umol/L, serum γ-glutamyl transferase was 404U/L, and various liver function indicators were several times higher than the normal values.

The family quickly sent Mr. Wang to the Department of Difficult and Severe Liver Diseases of Nanjing Second Hospital.

The patient was seen by Chief Physician Xiong Qingfang of the department. After examination, viral hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E were ruled out. The patient also had no history of taking medication and autoimmune liver disease was also ruled out.

The final consideration was acute massive hepatocellular necrosis caused by excessive drinking, and the patient was diagnosed with severe alcoholic hepatitis.

After more than ten days of careful treatment by medical staff, he finally recovered and was discharged smoothly.

After this incident, Mr. Wang regretted it deeply and kept saying, "Even if you kill me, I will never drink again."

Doctors remind us to drink in moderation and not to drink too much.

In life, if you want to protect your "little heart", in addition to quitting smoking and drinking, you also need to pay attention to your diet.

Especially for those who have poor liver health, try not to eat these 9 common foods because they can seriously damage the liver.

01

Sweets

Sugary foods, such as cakes, chocolates and other sweets, are easily fermented. If consumed in excess, they can lead to abnormalities in intestinal digestive enzymes, affect food digestion, and aggravate stomach bloating. After sweets enter the body, they are easily converted into fat and accelerate the liver's storage of fat, which may lead to the formation of fatty liver.

02

MSG

MSG is a common umami seasoning in our homes. Its chemical component is sodium glutamate, which is easily soluble in water. Its aqueous solution has a strong umami flavor. Generally, there is no toxicity problem when consumed in small amounts.

If you consume too much MSG, it will cause abdominal fat accumulation, fatty degeneration of liver cells, and obvious swelling, which may be accompanied by infiltration of inflammatory cells, causing certain damage to the liver, such as fatty liver disease.

In addition, excessive consumption of MSG can easily cause patients with poor liver function to experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and vertigo.

It is recommended to use as little MSG as possible to enhance the flavor of dishes when cooking daily, except for soups.

03

Sunflower seeds

Eating too much sunflower seeds is not good for the liver, especially for those with liver disease.

Eating too many sunflower seeds may affect the condition of existing liver disease and increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract, causing indigestion, abdominal distension, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other discomforts, and even induce fatty liver.

Because sunflower seeds are high in oil and contain unsaturated fatty acids, eating too many may cause fat accumulation in the body, which will not only affect the liver's metabolism, but also increase the burden on the liver.

04

Pickled Food

During the production process of pickled foods such as pickles, sauerkraut, ham, and bacon, a large amount of salt is added to season them and delay the time of consumption.

This type of pickled food contains a large amount of nitrate, which is a chemical substance that is extremely harmful to the human body.

Long-term consumption of pickled foods will affect the body's absorption and metabolism of water and sodium, increase the burden on the liver, and induce diseases such as chronic cirrhosis or liver cancer.

05

Preserved Eggs

Preserved eggs, also known as preserved eggs, are a favorite dish for many people.

During the production process of preserved eggs, heavy metal lead is added to enhance the flavor and storage. Lead can cause lead poisoning or osteoporosis, and increase the metabolic burden on the liver.

If people eat preserved eggs frequently, it will increase the burden on the liver, damage the liver, reduce the detoxification function, and cause lead poisoning.

Especially for those who have poor liver function, it is recommended to eat less or not eat it.

06

instant noodles

Instant noodles not only contain flavors and preservatives, but also contain a lot of salt.

If you consume too much, it will cause water retention in the body, increase the liver's detoxification burden, and aggravate liver disease.

In addition, excessive low-quality fats in instant noodles are easily accumulated in the body, which is difficult for the liver to metabolize and can easily lead to nutritional fatty liver.

07

Turtle

Although soft-shelled turtle meat is rich in protein, vitamins and trace elements, it is difficult to absorb after consumption and is not conducive to digestion. It causes food to rot in the intestines and can easily cause abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, indigestion and other phenomena.

For patients who already have poor liver function, eating soft-shelled turtle is even more difficult to digest. In severe cases, it can even induce hepatic coma.

08

Ginger

Eating ginger can easily stimulate the liver and lead to an increase in cholinesterase.

Ginger is a spicy and irritating food. Its main ingredients are gingerol, volatile oil, resin and starch. Spoiled ginger also contains safrole.

Gingerol and safrole can cause necrosis, degeneration, individual infiltration and interstitial tissue hyperplasia of liver cells in hepatitis patients, thereby causing liver dysfunction.

If you have liver problems, it is recommended that you try not to eat ginger.

09

Moldy food

When food is contaminated by mold, it may produce carcinogenic mycotoxins, such as aflatoxin.

Aflatoxin is highly toxic to the body, especially the liver, and can even induce liver cancer.

For moldy food, even if the moldy part is removed, the rest cannot be eaten. The cytotoxins produced by the mold will spread in the food, and the range of spread cannot be estimated by the naked eye.
