"Legs age first" Beware of diabetic foot

"Legs age first" is not a normal phenomenon. Middle-aged and elderly people often complain that their legs and feet are getting worse and worse, especially when they reach retirement age and are about to enjoy a new life and travel, but they find that they can no longer walk as well as before, and their legs are always sore and painful. They have to sit down and rest after walking a few steps. Most people think that as long as they get older, their legs and feet will naturally become worse, and this is just a normal aging phenomenon. However, this is not the case. Many so-called "legs age first" phenomena are actually caused by diseases, especially those "legs age before people get old", a disease called diabetic foot.

The concept of diabetic foot, in layman's terms, is that diabetic patients' high blood sugar levels cause damage to blood vessels and nerves in their legs, resulting in blockage of blood vessels in the legs and nerve dysfunction. In mild cases, the feet become numb and cold, and the patient cannot walk. In severe cases, the patient may suffer from toe pain, blackening, ulceration and necrosis. If not treated in time, the patient may only face amputation.

Common manifestations of diabetic foot Diabetic foot develops insidiously. In the very early stages, you may only feel cold and numb feet and no strength to walk. Gradually, walking will become more and more difficult. After walking 30 to 50 meters, your legs will feel sore, swollen and painful, and you must sit down to rest. If you let it go, when your legs hurt even when you don't walk, the disease has entered a more serious state.

To prevent diabetic foot, diabetic patients should regularly test their blood sugar under the guidance of a professional doctor and use hypoglycemic drugs regularly as prescribed by the doctor. A balanced diet is also crucial for diabetic patients. High-fat and high-sugar diets need to be avoided, but sufficient protein, vitamins, dietary fiber and a certain amount of carbohydrates and fats should be consumed. Diabetic patients should exercise appropriately within the scope allowed by their physical conditions to consume excess energy in the body, which can promote blood circulation while lowering blood sugar and effectively maintain blood vessel health, killing two birds with one stone.
