A family of six was poisoned after accidentally eating poisonous grass after visiting the grave. They couldn't tell the difference between bloodleaf and wormwood.

Science Fiction Network reported on April 3 (Qin Yingying) Recently, Ms. Zhang and her family from Yibin, Sichuan went to visit the graves. Afterwards, they picked some wild vegetables and mistakenly took the herb Eupatorium for blood-skin vegetable. They had it processed at a restaurant. As a result, all six members of the family were poisoned. They vomited continuously 10 minutes after eating the food. They went to the hospital for gastric lavage and are still in hospital.

As the temperature rises, the number of hospitalizations due to eating poisonous wild vegetables and fungi increases in spring and summer. Many people believe that vegetables picked in the wild are pure natural green food and safe to eat, but this is actually a misunderstanding. Although some wild vegetables are delicious, it is easy for people who are not familiar with them to mistake them and eat poisonous wild vegetables by mistake, so it is best not to pick them casually.

Bloodleaf, also known as red phoenix vegetable, is a common guest on the table of Yibin people and is often used to stir-fry pork liver. Red phoenix vegetable is a traditional wild vegetable with rich nutrition. It is often used to make vegetable salads and tempura in some East Asian countries (such as China and Japan); and it is also used as a herbal medicine for the treatment of diabetes in some parts of southern China. Red phoenix vegetable is rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, vitamin C, and has a high crude protein content. It has the effects of nourishing blood, anti-inflammatory treatment of menstrual pain, blood deficiency, bronchitis, heat stroke, etc.

However, it is very easy to confuse sanguisorba officinalis with "Huaercao". "Huaercao" is a common plant in rural Sichuan. Its leaves have curled teeth on the edges and are longer than sanguisorba officinalis. It tastes bitter when chewed. This plant is known as Jianzhongxiao and Huaercao in the folks. It has the effect of reducing swelling and relieving pain, so it is often used for external treatment. However, it is toxic to the human body when taken internally and can easily cause poisoning. Because it looks very similar to sanguisorba officinalis, people often get poisoned by eating it by mistake.

In order to avoid food poisoning caused by eating "Huercao", please pay great attention to it. On the one hand, farmers should carefully distinguish "Huercao" when picking, so as not to mistake "Huercao" for "Xuepicai"; on the other hand, consumers should also carefully distinguish "Xuepicai" when buying it, so as not to cause food poisoning after eating it by mistake. At the same time, all catering service units should strictly control the purchase of goods to ensure that the source of ingredients is clear and the quality is safe.

In addition, wild vegetables growing on both sides of the road are polluted by wastewater, car exhaust, etc., and contain high levels of harmful substances, which can easily increase the risk of poisoning after consumption. From the perspective of consumption, wild vegetables should not be stored for too long. It is best to eat them immediately after picking them, and do not eat too much at one time. For some people with special sensitive constitutions, it is best not to eat wild vegetables to avoid allergies.
