Since 2017, China's smartphone market has significantly moved towards high-end, and the US ban on Huawei has accelerated this process. According to Counterpoint's latest "Smartphone Model Sales Tracking Report", the sales share of China's high-end smartphones (priced at US$600, RMB 4,350 and above) in 2024 has climbed to 28% of the overall market, a significant increase from 11% in 2018.
As the main driver of this high-end trend, Huawei's share in the high-end market has increased to 29%, ranking first among Chinese mobile phone brand manufacturers. At the same time, Apple's market share fell to 54%, the lowest point in nearly seven years and is approaching the 50% mark. Xiaomi's performance in the high-end market in 2024 was also quite impressive, with a year-on-year increase of approximately 50% and market share ranking third. However, compared with Apple and Huawei, Xiaomi's overall sales volume is still insufficient. If Xiaomi wants to gain a foothold in the high-end market, it still faces a long and challenging road.
