What does it feel like when your water breaks?

The rupture of amniotic fluid occurs before delivery, and it can be said that the rupture of amniotic fluid is a signal that the baby is about to be born. From the perspective of the entire delivery process, the pregnant woman's cervix will dilate first, followed by the fetus entering the birth canal, and then the amniotic fluid will rupture. So, what does it feel like when your water breaks?

The feeling of amniotic fluid breaking is that secretions are discharged from a woman's vagina. This secretion is liquid and looks very similar to water. In actual appearance, amniotic fluid of pregnant women is a liquid, which is generally colorless and transparent. Compared with female secretions, rupture of water refers to the discharge of amniotic fluid from a pregnant woman, and compared with normal secretions, the amount is much larger.

The breaking of amniotic fluid is involuntary, so pregnant women can feel that the discharge of this fluid is uncontrolled. If more fluid is discharged when the amniotic fluid breaks, the pregnant woman will feel a warm and cozy feeling. Some pregnant women feel as if they are excreting it in the urine, but they cannot control it because the amniotic fluid is continuously excreted.

The appearance of amniotic fluid rupture is a signal of impending birth and is a very normal phenomenon. However, not all women who are about to give birth will experience ruptured amniotic fluid, and once ruptured amniotic fluid is discovered, it should be taken seriously immediately, because ruptured amniotic fluid can cause fetal infection, lack of oxygen and other abnormalities. It is recommended that if the amniotic fluid breaks in the pre-delivery stage, go to the hospital outpatient department for delivery immediately.

Pay attention to the symptoms that distinguish urinary discharge from amniotic fluid rupture:

When the baby develops to a certain extent, the pregnant woman's uterus will enlarge. At this time, due to the compression of the bladder, urination will decrease. Many pregnant women will experience frequent urination and urgency, and sometimes they will continue to leak urine, especially when standing for a long time or carrying objects. At this time, you should pay attention to the difference between urinary leakage and amniotic fluid rupture.

1. Taste. The smell of urine is relatively strong and even pungent; the smell of amniotic fluid of pregnant women is natural and even sweet.

2. The rate of water flow. Urinary incontinence is intermittent, while amniotic fluid rupture is like a stream of water, which cannot be controlled and may even be accompanied by cramping pain in the abdomen. This may be a symptom of the baby's imminent birth, and you should go to the hospital for delivery immediately.

3. Check the pregnancy test paper. If you can't tell whether it's urine leakage or amniotic fluid rupture, you can use a test strip to check. Actually, it is to stick the pregnancy test paper on the underwear, and judge whether it is amniotic fluid or urine of the pregnant woman by the change of color. The pH value of amniotic fluid in pregnant women is 7.0-7.5, and that of urine is 5.5-6.5. If it is a blue pregnancy test paper, the red color is urine, and the color without change is the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman; if it is a red pregnancy test paper, the blue color is the amniotic fluid of the pregnant woman, and the color without change is urine.
