MediaTek dominated the smartphone SoC market with a 30% share in the second quarter of 2023. MediaTek's shipments grew slightly in the second quarter of 2023 as inventory levels declined and competition in the entry-level 5G segment grew. New smartphone launches in the mid- and low-end segments increased shipments of the 6000 and 7000 series. Qualcomm accounted for 29% of the market share during the quarter. Qualcomm's shipments grew 14.5% quarter-on-quarter in the second quarter of 2023, driven by high shipments of its flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. In addition, key design wins for the Snapdragon 600 and 400 series also contributed to Qualcomm's shipment growth in the second quarter of 2023.

Qualcomm dominated the AP market with a 40% revenue share in the second quarter of 2023. The growth came from the high-end market as Samsung flagship smartphones and Chinese OEMs adopted Snapdragon 8 gen 2. The launch of Samsung Flip and Fold series also contributed to this growth. In the second quarter of 2023, Apple's revenue share in the AP SoC market was 33%. Due to seasonal factors, Apple's market share fell 24% month-on-month. The iPhone Pro series performed better. MediaTek ranked third with 16% of the total global smartphone AP/SoC revenue. MediaTek's revenue was flat in the second quarter of 2023 due to weak demand and a slowdown in the Chinese market.
