Apple: Data shows that iOS 16 penetration rate exceeds 80%, iPadOS 16 exceeds 70%

This year's releases will be iOS 17, iPadOS 17, tvOS17, watchOS 10 and macOS 14. According to foreign media reports, as the Global Developers Conference is about to be held, Apple has also disclosed the usage of its two major operating systems, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16, on its official website.

Data from Apple’s official developer page shows that as of May 30, 81% of iPhones are using iOS 16, and 90% of new iPhones launched in the past four years are using iOS 16.

Among iPads, data released by Apple shows that 71% of devices are running iPadOS 16. Among the new iPads launched in the past four years, the penetration rate of iPadOS 16 is 76%.

Foreign media reported that at the beginning of this year, the penetration rate of iOS 16 was 72%, and the current 81% is an increase of 9 percentage points. Based on 1 billion active iPhone users, the number of iOS 16 users has increased by nearly 100 million this year.

In addition, foreign media mentioned in the report that among iPhones that have not been upgraded to iOS 16, 13% still use the iOS 15 operating system, and the remaining 6% are earlier versions.

According to the information released on Apple's official website, iOS 16 supports all iPhones launched after iPhone 8 and iPhone X, including the second and third generation iPhone SE, and currently supports 23 iPhone models. iPhones launched before iPhone 8, that is, before 2017, cannot be upgraded to iOS 16.
