IDC: Global tablet shipments in Q1 2023 will be 30.7 million units, down 19.1% year-on-year

Recently, according to the latest report released by market research firm IDC, global tablet shipments in the first quarter of 2023 were 30.7 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 19.1%.

The agency believes that shipments have returned to pre-pandemic levels, with tablet shipments of 31.6 million units in the first quarter of 2018 and 30.1 million units in the first quarter of 2019.

The report pointed out that Chromebook shipments were 3.8 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 31%. IDC believes that this is because some suppliers withdrew some orders due to the expected increase in ChromeOS licensing costs.

• Apple shipped 10.8 million units, with a market share of 35.2%, down 10.2% year-on-year.
• Samsung shipped 7.1 million units, with a market share of 23.1%, down 14.3% year-on-year.
• Huawei shipped 2 million units, with a market share of 6.6%, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%.
• Lenovo shipped 1.9 million units, with a market share of 6.2%, down 37.1% year-on-year.
• Amazon shipped 1.4 million units, with a market share of 4.6%, down 62% year-on-year.
