Savings: Survey shows iPhone 14 demand may be higher than iPhone 13

There are only a few weeks left until the iPhone 14 launch, with recent reports suggesting a release date of September 16. iPhone 14 pre-orders will begin a week earlier, so potential iPhone 14 buyers will soon decide whether to upgrade or buy their first iPhone.

If a new survey is accurate, then we should see some iPhone 14 models sell out during the pre-order period. This is because demand for the iPhone 14 appears to be higher than that of the iPhone 13 – despite the expected price increase.

Like previous generations, the iPhone 13 has been immune to market conditions that could affect demand. The iPhone 13 has outperformed its competitors and helped Apple accumulate record earnings, while Android suppliers have suffered.

According to a survey by Savings, iPhone 14 sales should be even better. The site surveyed 1,504 US iPhone users and found that 14% of respondents planned to upgrade to iPhone 14. A year ago, only 10% of iPhone users said they wanted to upgrade to iPhone 13.

In addition, people who own the latest iPhone may drive demand. Savings found that more than two-thirds of iPhone users who want to upgrade to iPhone 14 own models that are less than two years old. Among them, iPhone 12 users are more likely to upgrade to iPhone 14 than iPhone 13 users.

The iPhone 14 demand survey also showed that features such as improved processors, more storage capacity and a 48-megapixel rear camera have become the most important motivations for upgrading.

The iPhone 14 Pro models should offer an A16 Bionic processor that will run faster and more efficiently. According to most reports, they will also have a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens on the back. But a storage boost to 256GB for the cheapest iPhone 14 Pro model has not yet been confirmed.

If iPhone 14 demand surveys are accurate, most iPhone users looking to upgrade will opt for the more expensive iPhone 14 Pro models. The entry-level iPhone 14 version does not have these highly enviable features.

Rumors suggest the iPhone 14 will start at $799, like previous generations. But the pricing structure for the iPhone 14 Pro will reportedly change. Both the regular Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max should be $100 more expensive than last year's models.

The iPhone 14 demand survey is consistent with Kuo's predictions. The analyst has said more than once that iPhone 14 demand will surge in China, outstripping iPhone 13 sales. China is an important market for iPhone 13 models.

As for iPhone buyers who don't plan to buy an iPhone 14, Savings noted that price was a factor in 60% of responses. But 86% of iPhone users who don't want a new iPhone said their current model works well, so they don't need to upgrade.
