Signs of labor starting

In the late stages of pregnancy, especially when the due date is approaching, most expectant mothers are more worried that the baby will not be able to bear the loneliness in the belly and want to come out. Therefore, expectant mothers want to understand the symptoms of labor in advance, so as to detect labor early and prepare in advance. So, what are the signs that labor is just about to begin? Let’s find out together, expectant mothers.

What are the signs that labor has just begun?

1. Lowering of the uterine fundus: During the first two weeks of labor, the uterine fundus will lower. At this moment, the pregnant woman will feel her upper abdomen become relaxed. Breathing will be more comfortable than before, the pressure on the stomach has also been improved, and the appetite has increased.

2. Increased cervical mucus: Just before the baby is born, the cervix will begin to soften, and at this time, transparent, sticky cervical mucus will be secreted. The closer you are to the birth period, the greater the metabolism. Now mothers can start preparing for the birth of their baby.

3. Frequent urination and urgency: A few days before delivery, the fetus gradually descends, and the fetal head may be compressed on the pelvic connective tissue, bladder, duodenum and other tissues. Pregnant women always feel a sense of heaviness and pain in the lower abdomen, as well as discomfort such as frequent urination, urgency, frequent bowel movements, and back pain.

4. Spotting during pregnancy: Spotting during pregnancy may occur around the time of birth of the newborn and 24 hours before the onset of pain. The amount of bleeding is generally less than that of false bleeding. At this time, you need to go to the hospital under the care of your family. If the bleeding exceeds the menstrual flow or is heavy, it may be an accident and you should go to the hospital if necessary.

5. Regular uterine contractions: Regular uterine contractions occur, with the interval between two contractions being 5-6 minutes, and each uterine contraction lasting more than 30 seconds. This kind of situation indicates that you can go to the hospital to give birth.

When should I go to the hospital to give birth?

When regular uterine contractions break the amniotic fluid, if the amniotic fluid breaks, that is, a large pool of watery substance is discharged from the vagina, you should lie down immediately and go to the hospital. Be careful not to stand up, because it can easily cause the umbilical cord to prolapse, which can threaten the baby's life.

Some pregnant women have special conditions. After examination by a gynecologist, they are classified as high-risk pregnancies and need to be hospitalized early. For example, bleeding during pregnancy, such as placenta previa and placental abruption; pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome; abnormal fetal position; abnormal birth gate; premature birth or post-term pregnancy; contact with harmful substances during pregnancy; those with abnormal maternal diseases, such as miscarriage, premature birth, stillbirth, etc.; medical diseases combined with pregnancy, such as heart disease, nephritis, viral hepatitis, viral infection, etc.

The above is a brief introduction to what the signs of the beginning of labor are. Based on the detailed introduction above, I think expectant mothers have already understood the signs of labor. In the late pregnancy, if the expectant mother has any sign of uterine contraction, pregnancy spotting, or amniotic fluid rupture, it means that important delivery is imminent. At this time, the expectant mother must be fully prepared and go to the hospital outpatient department as soon as possible to give birth.
