Wuhan University Library Reading Report 2021

The "Reading Report" shows that the student who visited the library the most times in 2021 was a doctoral student from the School of Philosophy, who visited the library 1,360 times throughout the year, an average of four times a day; the student who spent the longest time in the library was a doctoral student from the School of Marxism, who spent nearly 4,200 hours in the library, an average of more than 11 hours a day; the student who borrowed the most books was an undergraduate student from the School of Literature, who borrowed 497 books annually; the average number of electronic documents downloaded by teachers and students was 650 and the number of electronic document searches was 15,000 times; during the epidemic, the usage of the Wuhan University Library database increased significantly, and the download volume of foreign language databases doubled.

Overall, the most popular authors among Wuhan University students and teachers are Keitake Higashino, Jin Yong, Christie, Haruki Murakami and Marx. Among the Chinese books borrowed, "Grave Robbers' Chronicles", "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", "The Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils", "Things about the Ming Dynasty", "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" and "Intimate Relationships" are the most borrowed books. "Things about the Ming Dynasty" and "Grave Robbers' Chronicles" are the most popular books among undergraduates and master's students. Master's students prefer "Things about the Ming Dynasty" and "Selected Works of Mao Zedong", while among doctoral students, "European Migration Development Report" and "Study on Migration and Refugees in the European Union and Its Member States" are the most borrowed books.

"Through reading, we are connected to the great tradition of mankind, become a part of it, and continue it." Professor Yu Ting, Dean of the School of Literature of Wuhan University, said that loving books and reading is a quality and character. He hopes that every student of Wuhan University who comes to this campus can be influenced to become a "reader" who makes friends with books, keeps company with reading, continuously educates himself, and has a clear understanding of morality.
