China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: Domestic mobile phone shipments in 2021 will reach 351 million units, with domestic mobile phones accounting for 86.6%

Today, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in 2021. The report shows that in 2021, the total shipments of mobile phones in the domestic market totaled 351 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.9%. In 2021, the shipments of domestic brand mobile phones totaled 304 million units, a year-on-year increase of 12.6%, accounting for 86.6% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In other words, nearly 87 out of every 100 people buy domestic mobile phones.

At the same time, a total of 438 new models were launched, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, accounting for 90.7% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

5G mobile phones have become a general trend. In 2021, 5G mobile phone shipments reached 266 million units, a year-on-year increase of 63.5%, accounting for 75.9% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. In November and December 2021, 5G mobile phones accounted for more than 80%.

Not all mobile phones are smartphones. In 2021, smartphone shipments totaled 343 million units, up 15.9% year-on-year, accounting for 97.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period and 82.1% of the number of new models launched.

In 2021, a total of 404 new smartphone models were launched, an increase of 11.0% year-on-year, accounting for 83.6% of the number of new models launched in the same period. It can be seen that feature phones still have a huge audience.
