CIRP: 23% of iPhone users say the battery no longer lasts a full day after one year

The batteries equipped with Android phones are constantly getting bigger and bigger, all in the name of giving users more autonomy per charge. Meanwhile, Apple has been betting on its hardcore software optimizations, so while the capacity of iPhone batteries has only increased slightly, the company hopes that efficient power management technologies will work all the magic.

But according to a recent study conducted by CIRP, the battery life of iPhone and Android devices drops significantly in the first year after purchase. Only 23% of iPhone owners claim that their phone can still be used for a full day, and 30% of Android users say they do not need a charger within 24 hours after unplugging their device.

The good news is that most phones were still in good condition after 12 months, with 65% of iPhones showing good displays without any substantial damage. However, only 60% of Android phones were in good condition.

CIRP also previously stated that iPhone users are more likely to buy the iPhone 13 than Android phone users because 30% of Apple users usually trade in their old smartphones.

"Most retired phones are in good condition, with working displays and batteries that last all or most of a day. As a result, many former phones are sold or traded in, given to friends or family, or saved for future use," the study said.

Apple is preparing to unveil the iPhone 13, and the company hopes that a large portion of sales will be made up of upgrades.
