Canalys: Xiaomi's smartphone shipments in Q2 2021 reached 53.1 million units, surpassing Apple to become the world's second largest

In mid-July, market research company Canalys released a report saying that Xiaomi surpassed Apple for the first time to become the second in the global mobile phone market. Now IDC has also released the Q2 global mobile phone report, confirming that Xiaomi surpassed Apple and ranked second in the world, with a shipment increase of 86.6%. According to the quarterly mobile phone tracking report released by IDC, Samsung ranked first in the second quarter with 59 million units shipped, a market share of 18.8%, and a year-on-year shipment increase of 9.3%.

Xiaomi ranked second with 53.1 million units shipped, overtaking Apple for the first time, with a market share of 16.9%, less than 2 percentage points away from Samsung. Its shipments increased by 86.6% year-on-year, the fastest growth rate among the top five.

Apple ranked third with 44.2 million units shipped, accounting for 14.1% of the market share. Its shipments increased by 17.8% year-on-year.

OPPO ranked fourth with 32.8 million units shipped, a market share of 10.5%, and a year-on-year shipment growth of 37%.

vivo ranked fifth with 31.6 million units shipped, accounting for 10.1% of the market share and a year-on-year growth of 33.7%.

These five brands accounted for 71% of the global market share, other manufacturers shipped a total of 92.4 million units, and all brands shipped a total of 313 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.2%.
