Acute stroke, what should you do before the ambulance arrives?

Stroke has a high disability and mortality rate. Therefore, it is important to seize the golden treatment time for stroke and send the patient to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible. For patients with acute ischemic stroke within 4.5 hours of onset, the standard treatment recommended by international and domestic guidelines is thrombolytic therapy.

Thrombolytic therapy is to dissolve the blood clots that block the cerebral blood vessels by using thrombolytic drugs, so that the blocked blood vessels can be reopened and the damaged brain cells can recover their functions in a short time, thereby alleviating the patient's symptoms. Since thrombolytic therapy has a strict time limit, you should call the "120" emergency number as soon as possible and pay attention to the following aspects:

1. If the patient is not conscious, he should lie on his back, with his head and shoulders slightly raised, and his head tilted to one side to prevent sputum or vomitus from being inhaled into the trachea and causing suffocation. If there is vomitus blocking the patient's mouth and nose, try to dig it out. At the same time, unbutton the patient's collar, tie, belt, bra, and remove dentures if any. The purpose of the above measures is to keep the patient's airway open and prevent aspiration.

2. If the patient is conscious, comfort him/her and relieve his/her nervousness. Keep him/her calm.

3. Because ambulances have professionals and rescue equipment, it is usually not recommended to transport patients by yourself. If you need to transport the patient to the hospital by yourself under special circumstances, the correct way to transport the patient is: 2 to 3 people work together, one person holds the patient's head and shoulders to prevent the head from being shaken or twisted excessively, another person holds the patient's back and buttocks, and if there is another person, he should hold up the patient's waist and legs. The three people work together to lift the patient flat and move him to a hardwood bed or stretcher. Do not help the patient sit up when transporting, and do not hug, drag, carry or carry the patient.

4. Record the time of onset: Use a mobile phone to take a photo of the clock or other methods (such as taking a screenshot of the clock in the mobile phone). The time of onset is an important reference for subsequent doctor treatment.

5. Do not give patients hemostatic agents, Angong Niuhuang Pills or other drugs without a clear diagnosis from a doctor.
