StoneTemple investigated the state of linked content on social networks in 2017.

Not surprisingly, news information dominates the number of social media links, with 76.2% of related content being news releases.

It’s worth noting that the second largest category is research, and the fourth largest category is blog posts. Most of the time, these come from non-mainstream brands or individuals.

The types of sites that publish the most linked content include:

Among them, 157 pieces of content were released by enterprises, 40 by non-profit organizations, 12 by blogs, and 11 by the media.

As the data shows, many different types of websites made it into the elite list. In addition, some news content does not come from mainstream media websites.

Of course, straight-up news sites accounted for a high percentage of total news distribution (32.8%), but businesses also produced 8.9% of news content, and a portion of news distribution came from blogs (0.4%). From another perspective, local news sites have a stronger advantage in providing local coverage, accounting for 6% of top news stories.

StoneTemple’s research shows that some consulting firms and marketing agencies have achieved success in their research, which provides opportunities to promote the success of corporate content marketing.
