Semiconductor Industry Association: Global chip sales in Q2 2015 were $84 billion, up 2% year-on-year

The Semiconductor Industry Association reported that global chip sales in the second quarter were $84 billion, up 2% from the same period last year and 1% from the previous quarter.

The report shows that global chip sales in June were $28 billion, up 2% from the same period last year. Sales so far in 2015 are up 3.9% from the same period last year.

"While macroeconomic headwinds and softening demand have slowed global semiconductor market growth to some extent, the industry still achieved its highest second quarter sales ever and remains ahead of 2014 sales growth," John Neuffer, CEO of the Semiconductor Industry Association, said in a statement.
