17.4% of global Internet traffic comes from mobile devices

On August 21, 2013, research firm Statista released a report on Tuesday saying that so far this year, 17.4% of global web traffic has come from mobile devices.

The report also showed that mobile traffic in South America more than doubled this year, the largest increase in the world. The proportion of people accessing the Internet using mobile devices increased from 3.2% to 6.8%.

Asia and Africa have the largest number of mobile Internet users, with mobile Internet traffic accounting for 26.6% and 23.7% of Web traffic respectively.
