According to a survey conducted by Prosper Mobile, 35% of users who own smartphones and tablets prefer to use smartphones when surfing the Internet, while 14% prefer to use tablets. This means that just over half of the users use desktop computers or laptops when surfing the Internet. In fact, among male users, more than half prefer to use mobile devices to surf the Internet (36.9% prefer smartphones, and 14.9% prefer tablets). Female users prefer to use desktops or laptops, and use smartphones less (only 32.7%). Among the respondents, nearly 9/10 users who own smartphones said they also own tablets. It is important to note that smartphone penetration has not peaked, but is still growing rapidly. This means that optimizing your website for smartphones and tablets is extremely important - recent research shows that nearly half of smart mobile terminal users are unwilling to revisit a website that is not optimized for mobile terminals. When asked about the top three smartphone use cases, only 7% of respondents said they only use the most basic apps - making calls, texting and emailing. A recent survey by Experian Marketing Service shows that these three activities only account for 55% of users' daily smartphone usage time. More respondents said they use a variety of apps on their smartphones and that smartphones are part of their lives. Other findings:
