Smartphone share in the U.S. as of July 2012 The latest US mobile phone market report released by comScore on September 5, 2012 shows that Samsung is still the top mobile phone manufacturer in the US with a market share of 25.6% in the three months ending July 2012. The Android platform has a market share of 52.2% in the smartphone market. The report shows that in the entire US mobile phone market, 234 million Americans used mobile phones in the first three months ending in July. Samsung ranked first with a market share of 25.6%, LG ranked second with a market share of 18.4%, and Apple ranked third with a market share of 16.3%. Motorola and HTC ranked fourth and fifth with market shares of 11.2% and 6.4% respectively. In the smartphone market, more than 114 million Americans used smartphones in the first three months of July. Android platform accounted for 52.2% of the market share, ranking first among all smartphone OS systems. Apple's market share was 31.4%, ranking second.
