Children are nearsighted, don't have these misunderstandings

In fact, many people have some misunderstandings about children's eye protection. Let's break them down one by one below.

Will the degree of my glasses get worse after I wear them?

In fact, whether the degree of myopia increases or not is not necessarily related to wearing glasses. Long-term blurred retinal imaging will stimulate the growth of the eye axis and deepen myopia. Wearing glasses will allow you to see clearly, and the degree of myopia will increase more slowly.

Do I not need to wear glasses if my myopia is low?

Whether the child needs to wear glasses depends on his or her naked eye vision. It is not necessarily the case that the smaller the degree, the better the vision. Some children are only 50 degrees myopic, but their naked eye vision is only 0.5. In addition, if there is a difference in vision between the two eyes, it may cause strabismus in the child if not intervened in time. Even if one eye has mild myopia of only 50 degrees and the other eye is not myopic, glasses should be worn to prevent strabismus from progressing too quickly.

It’s okay to be nearsighted, I can just have surgery anyway?

Laser surgery has become the first choice for more and more myopia patients. Many parents believe that if their children's myopia degree increases during their growth stage, they should change their glasses and undergo surgery when they grow up.

However, laser surgery is to flatten the cornea by cutting it. The higher the degree, the more corneal tissue needs to be cut. Moreover, the surgery cannot shorten the already elongated eye axis or cure the fundus lesions that have already occurred. In order to ensure the safety of the eyes after the surgery, the surgery cannot be performed when the degree of myopia is too high. Therefore, for parents, even if they want to take off their glasses through laser surgery in the future, they must control the degree of myopia of their children.
