DCCI: In 2012, Weibo users accounted for 88.8% of adult netizens, and the scale has stabilized

Weibo users account for 88.81% of Chinese netizens aged 19 and above

July 26, 2012 news, DCCI Internet Data Center released a report today saying that technology and data are becoming the core focus of the industry in 2012. The report pointed out that the number of Weibo users is approaching the number of Chinese netizens, accounting for 88.81% of Chinese netizens aged 19 and above. Among them, 70% of users have a unique account, and the user scale is stable.

DCCI conducted a survey on the usage behavior of Weibo users and found that users who visit Weibo frequently are the majority, and their usage behavior is based on browsing, forwarding and posting. Watching videos, chatting and participating in commercial promotions have become new interests of users.

Analyzing the e-commerce behavior of users on Weibo, half of them directly click on the pictures on Weibo or the links in the main text. 43.28% of Weibo users will follow 1-5 corporate Weibo, and 20.83% will follow 5-10 corporate Weibo. More than half of Weibo users will pay attention to discount information and the latest brand news, especially official Weibo accounts of websites, media, IT products, and clothing.

In the report, DCCI also shared relevant Internet industry data. As of June, there were 538 million Internet users in China, and 388 million mobile Internet users. There were more than 2.3 million websites in China, more than 86.6 billion web pages, and more than 1.35 million apps.

As of June 2012, the applications of the three major smart operating system platforms have shown explosive growth: Apple App Store has more than 650,000 applications, 30 billion downloads, and 365 million devices activated; Google Play Marker has more than 600,000 apps, 20 billion downloads, and 400 million devices activated; even the Windows Phone Markerplace, which was launched in October 2012, has accumulated more than 100,000 applications and 10.5 million devices activated. Analysts said that mobile portals such as mobile search, application stores, mobile browsers, and operating systems will become key nodes of mobile big data.
