The little girl had been coughing for two months and was told by the doctor that she had Tourette syndrome

Science Fiction Network, November 29 (Jin Kaiyi) A 9-year-old girl in Zhejiang had been coughing for more than two months. Her family initially thought it was a common cold and cough. She took a lot of medicine, but it didn't get better, so her mother and brother brought her to Hangzhou for medical treatment. Xiaowen kept coughing on the subway, and a doctor sitting next to her told Xiaowen's mother that Xiaowen's cough was not a common cough, but more like a symptom of Tourette syndrome. After treatment, Xiaowen's condition improved significantly.

Tourette syndrome, also known as tic disorder, is a complex, chronic neuropsychiatric disorder. It usually begins in childhood and adolescence, and is clinically manifested by paroxysmal, rapid, involuntary, and repetitive muscle twitches, such as blinking, frowning, opening and grinning, sniffing the nose, shaking the head and shoulders, clearing the throat and coughing, as well as abdominal and chest twitching and limb twitching, etc. Some are accompanied by comorbidities such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and learning difficulties.

The condition of patients with tics often fluctuates, sometimes mild and sometimes severe, and sometimes they can be relieved on their own for a period of time. The location, frequency and intensity of the tics can all change. The tics can get worse when the patient is nervous, anxious, tired, or sleep deprived; they can get better when the mind is relaxed and disappear after sleep. The intelligence of patients is generally normal, and some patients may have psychological problems such as inattention, learning difficulties, and emotional disorders.

For children with tics, parents should pay attention to their emotional changes, encourage them, communicate more, improve their self-confidence, and reduce their mental stress. They should eat a light diet, avoid eating goose, mutton, dog meat and other hair-raising foods, as well as cocoa, coffee and other stimulating and irritating foods, and eat regularly. In life, avoid "rushing" scenes, avoid urging, and do not put mental pressure on children. You can cultivate children's "calm" qualities, such as practicing calligraphy, painting, etc., and learn less fast-paced activities such as dance and piano.
