Approaching Breast Hyperplasia

This is the 3821st article of Da Yi Xiao Hu

Many women are often diagnosed with breast hyperplasia during physical examinations or when they go to the hospital for breast examinations. Doctors usually recommend follow-up or drug treatment. What exactly is breast hyperplasia? How to diagnose and treat it? The following is an answer for everyone.

one

Understanding Breast Hyperplasia

Breast hyperplasia, also known as cystic breast hyperplasia, mastopathy or lobular breast hyperplasia, is a non-inflammatory, non-tumor benign breast disease caused by abnormal development and degeneration of the normal breast. Its incidence rate ranks first among breast diseases and is common in women aged 30 to 40.

Most patients experience breast pain, breast lumps and nipple discharge. The symptoms worsen before menstruation and disappear after menstruation. The disease has a long course, develops slowly and is prone to recurrence, causing life and psychological distress to patients.

In recent years, the incidence of breast diseases has increased year by year, and the age of patients has tended to be younger. Breast hyperplasia has received more attention. It is worth noting that there is no clear relationship between breast hyperplasia and breast cancer, but the symptoms of some breast cancer patients are similar to those of breast hyperplasia. Therefore, it is very important to detect breast abnormalities early and seek medical treatment in time.

two

Causes of Breast Hyperplasia

The causes of breast hyperplasia are numerous and unclear, but the following factors have been proven to promote the occurrence and development of breast hyperplasia, such as: infertile women over 35 years old, women with no history of breastfeeding, bad living habits such as smoking, alcoholism, staying up late, wearing inappropriate underwear, long-term excessive fat intake, excessive mental tension or irritability, and other negative mental factors.

III

Prevention and treatment of breast hyperplasia

First of all, we should establish a good lifestyle. Keeping a good mood and optimistic mood is the best defense weapon against breast hyperplasia. We should live a regular life, combine work and rest, change our eating habits, eat less high-fat foods, eat more vegetables and fruits, exercise more, and improve immunity.

Secondly, do not indiscriminately use contraceptives and beauty products and health products containing estrogen to avoid endocrine disorders caused by exogenous estrogen intake.

Finally, pregnancy and breastfeeding are physiological adjustments to breast function. Timely marriage, childbirth and breastfeeding are beneficial to breast health. In daily life, you should choose the right underwear to avoid being too large or too tight.

Patients with severe pain, bloody nipple discharge, and enlarged breast nodules should go to the hospital promptly for treatment, receiving routine symptomatic treatment, oral endocrine drugs, or some Chinese patent medicines.

Generally, after the above treatments and changes in lifestyle, the symptoms will improve significantly. If the symptoms do not improve significantly and malignant changes are suspected, the diagnosis should be further clarified and a puncture biopsy or surgical resection should be performed for pathological confirmation if necessary.

IV

Breast self-examination

Breast self-examination is a good way to detect breast diseases early. The time for self-examination is after menstruation or between two menstrual periods. At this time, the breasts are relatively soft, without swelling and pain, and it is easy to find abnormalities. Postmenopausal women can choose to perform breast self-examination at a fixed time every month. Women over 40 are recommended to have 1 to 2 breast specialist examinations a year, such as ultrasound and mammography, to achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment.

The method of breast self-examination generally includes the following six steps:

1. In a bright room, stand in front of a mirror and take off your shirt. Relax your arms and let them hang down at your sides. Compare and observe whether the size and shape of the breasts on both sides are symmetrical, whether there are any skin abnormalities, check whether the nipples have changed in direction, inverted, secretions or bleeding, check whether the nipples and areolas are eroded, and whether the superficial veins in the breast area are dilated.

2. Put your hands on your hips, turn your body, and compare the appearance of both breasts to see if there is any abnormality;

3. Bend over, bend your elbows and tighten your pectoralis major muscles to make your breasts droop naturally, and observe the changes in breast contour and shape;

4. Cross your hands behind your head and squeeze your arms forward, or stretch your arms straight up, turn your body, and observe whether there is any abnormality on the periphery and edge of the breast;

5. Pinch the nipple and surrounding tissue with your thumb and index finger, pull and squeeze forward, and observe whether there is any secretion, such as light yellow or bloody liquid;

6. Lie on your back with a small pillow under your shoulders, place your left arm at your side or behind your head, put your right fingers together, and touch the left breast with your fingertips. Start from the upper outer part of the breast, press the breast clockwise, and after massaging one circle, move your fingers inward 2 cm for a second examination. After completing the examination of the left breast, touch the left armpit with your right hand to check for enlarged axillary lymph nodes.

The direction of examination for the right breast is counterclockwise, and the method is the same as that for the left side. When examining, the fingertips should be close to the skin and the force should be even. The force should be enough for the fingers to touch the ribs.

In summary, breast hyperplasia may not be a serious disease, and there is insufficient evidence that breast hyperplasia progresses to breast cancer. However, how to find clues from breast hyperplasia and reduce or avoid the occurrence of adverse consequences. We must have a scientific understanding of breast hyperplasia, develop good living habits, and perform regular breast self-examinations and physical examinations. Believe it or not, breast diseases will stay away from you!
