Why do we say that stomach problems can be cured by taking care of them? How can we properly take care of our stomach?

A friend left a message to Huazi, saying that he had been suffering from stomach problems for many years, and from time to time he had dull pain, bloating, nausea, belching and other symptoms. He went to see a doctor, and after taking medicine, his condition recurred. The doctor told him that he should pay attention to nourishing his stomach, and stomach problems can be cured by nourishing. He didn't understand this sentence. Does stomach problems not need to be treated, but can be cured by nourishing?

Huazi said that stomach problems are "three parts treatment and seven parts care." In principle, stomach problems can be cured by care, but many people do not know the correct way to care for the stomach.

1. The stomach is an organ with strong regenerative ability. When we eat every day, various foods rub against the gastric mucosa, which can easily cause mechanical damage and inflammatory reactions to the gastric mucosa. Even if a healthy person undergoes a gastroscopy, they will basically get a result of "superficial gastritis" because of the inflammatory reaction caused by food abrasion.

The gastric mucosa needs to have a strong regenerative ability to continuously repair the mucosa and maintain normal physiological functions. When treating gastric diseases, as long as you take good care of the stomach and reduce the factors that hurt the stomach, you can use the stomach's own regenerative ability to repair itself. So, gastric diseases can be cured.

2. How to properly nourish the stomach 1. Avoid "emotional damage to the stomach": When we are anxious or depressed, we often "lose our appetite"; if we are angry, we will be "full of anger" and lose our appetite. This is because the stomach function is greatly affected by emotions.

Many people's stomach problems are caused by gastric neurosis, which means that due to the influence of negative emotions, the sympathetic nerves are overexcited, causing the gastric artery to contract and blood flow to decrease, which makes stomach diseases more likely to occur.

Therefore, for people who are often anxious and stressed, learning to relax their emotions and reduce mental stress is the key to nourishing the stomach. After psychological counseling and relieving psychological pressure, stomach problems will also be cured.

2. Avoid eating foods that hurt your stomach: Your daily diet is closely related to stomach problems. Avoid eating foods that are too spicy, sweet, sour, salty, raw, cold, or hard.

It should be noted that you should not eat porridge, noodles and other soft foods for a long time. Because human organs will "use it or lose it", although soft food is good for digestion, long-term consumption of such food will degrade the normal digestive function of the stomach and is not conducive to the recovery of the stomach. Therefore, maintaining a normal diet and ensuring food diversity is the correct way to nourish the stomach.

Steamed bread can be chosen as the staple food, because after fermentation, the phytic acid in the steamed bread is reduced, which can reduce the irritation to the stomach. Do not drink milk when the stomach is uncomfortable, because the protein in milk will stimulate the secretion of gastric acid and pepsin, which may aggravate the damage to the stomach.

3. Talking more can nourish the stomach: chewing food thoroughly while eating can use teeth and tongue to replace part of the stomach's function. In addition, the saliva in the human mouth contains amylase, which can also promote the digestion of food.

In traditional Chinese medicine, there is a method of using saliva to treat stomach problems. The specific method is to use the tip of the tongue to press against the gums, or stir in the mouth to promote saliva secretion. When there is enough saliva, swallow it directly. Do this 5 times a day, swallowing 5 mouthfuls each time, which can assist in treating stomach problems, but this method requires long-term persistence to be effective.

4. Maintain regular exercise: Regular exercise can promote gastrointestinal motility, secretion of digestive juices, increase gastric power, and improve gastric digestion and absorption functions. During exercise, breathing becomes deeper, and the abdominal muscles and diaphragm will move greatly, which will have a "massage" effect on the gastrointestinal tract, improve gastric blood supply, and increase the defense of the gastric mucosa.

Exercise needs to be gentle aerobic exercise, such as walking, Tai Chi, jogging, cycling, etc., and insist on exercising for about 30 minutes to 1 hour every day to keep your heart rate at "170-age", which can comprehensively improve the function of the digestive system.

3. Medication can be used to relieve symptoms. Stomach problems can be cured, but those with severe symptoms also need the help of medication. Medication treatment for stomach problems is mainly symptomatic. For example, if there are symptoms such as bloating, nausea, and belching, gastric motility drugs can be used for treatment; if there is indigestion and decreased absorption capacity, digestive enzyme preparations can be used to promote digestion.

If gastritis occurs, you need to use antacids, such as proton pump inhibitors (prazole drugs) and H2 receptor antagonists (tidine drugs) to inhibit the secretion of gastric acid, which can reduce damage to the gastric mucosa and promote self-repair of the stomach. It is important to pay attention to the duration of medication. Usually, it takes 2 months or even longer to effectively relieve or cure gastric disease.

People with unstable emotions can receive psychotherapy and use anti-anxiety and antidepressant drugs, which can also relieve stomach discomfort symptoms.

To sum up, the stomach is an organ with strong regenerative ability. As long as factors that harm it are avoided, the stomach can rely on its regenerative ability to repair itself. However, nourishing the stomach is something that requires long-term persistence. If you give up halfway, it will cause the disease to recur. For those with severe symptoms, you can use medication for symptomatic treatment under the guidance of a doctor. If you have any questions about medication, please consult a doctor or pharmacist.
