Due to the rush to complete the work before the New Year and his heavy smoking, 42-year-old construction worker Master Wu suddenly felt as if a layer of veil was covering his eyes, and the shapes of things he saw had changed. Master Wu, who lives in Jingzhou, Hubei, works on a construction site in Wuhan. He has felt blurry vision in his right eye for half a year, and his vision is sometimes good and sometimes bad. Recently, he suddenly felt as if a veil was covering his right eye, and the shape of things he saw had changed. He could no longer work normally. Thinking that his family members were still counting on him, he was very anxious and finally made up his mind to completely cure his eye disease. Last weekend, Master Wu came to the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University. Yan Jing, chief physician of the hospital's fundus disease department, carefully asked about Mr. Wu's medical history and examined the fundus in detail. Combined with FFA and OCT and other specialized examinations, Master Wu was diagnosed with central serous chorioretinopathy in the right eye. "Central serous chorioretinopathy is a self-limiting disease. If the disease persists for three to six months without recovery, laser treatment can be used." Director Yan Jing explained that the onset of central serous chorioretinopathy is closely related to lifestyle and emotional state. After learning that Master Wu was a heavy smoker and had poor sleep quality due to rushing to finish his work, Director Yan Jing advised him, "You should still develop a good lifestyle in your future life, quit smoking and drinking, have a regular work and rest schedule, relax, and relieve stress in a healthy way." Master Wu listened to Director Yan's advice, and one week after laser treatment, his vision was significantly improved during the follow-up examination yesterday. After the onset of "myocardial infarction", patients will suddenly find that their vision is blurred, objects can be larger or smaller, and there seems to be a dark shadow blocking the center of the visual field, and their vision is reduced. Although some patients with "myocardial infarction" can recover on their own, the recurrence rate is 20%-50%. If not treated in time, it is likely to turn into a chronic eye disease and then form vascular lesions, which will cause lifelong damage to the patient's vision. Wu Jianhua, deputy director of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Hubei Provincial Medical Association and director of the Aier Eye Hospital affiliated to Wuhan University, reminded everyone to pay attention to the proper use of eyes, try not to stay up late, avoid "staring", eat properly, quit smoking and drinking, get enough sleep, and cultivate healthy hobbies. If you experience vision loss and things look distorted and dark, please go to the hospital in time for treatment after examination by a doctor. (Reporter Pei Nishang) |
