Please keep this medicine kit when you are traveling

For long-distance travel, you can bring vitamin C, iodine, band-aids, etc. If you have chronic diseases, you should prepare common medicines, and be cautious when using medications for children.

The Spring Festival travel season has begun. Are you ready to enter the "on the road" mode? Whether you are rushing back to your hometown thousands of miles away or traveling a long distance, if you encounter "small incidents" such as stomach upset, motion sickness, and colds, it will inevitably cast a shadow on your journey. How to get home healthy and safe? How to reduce the impact of low temperature and crowded carriages on the body? The reporter interviewed Li Guohao, director of the Pharmacy Department of Guangzhou First People's Hospital, and prepared a "travel health kit" for everyone to make your journey easier and more enjoyable.

Motion sickness: Motion sickness medicine + ginger slices double the effect

Motion sickness is most common on the way home. Some people may suffer from motion sickness for a long time and get motion sickness whenever they sit in a car. On the one hand, it may be related to genetic factors. On the other hand, it is because their own balance system is more sensitive and they are more sensitive to special shaking sensations.

For motion sickness, you can take some motion sickness medicine, such as Vertigo Stop. After taking it for a period of time, the person with motion sickness will fall asleep, thus avoiding the discomfort of motion sickness. It is best to take it half an hour before getting on the bus. If you still feel motion sickness after taking the medicine, and have symptoms such as vomiting and chest tightness, do not take additional motion sickness medicine at will. Take it according to the dosage on the drug instructions. Taking too much will also affect the body. There is also a "motion sickness patch", which is usually attached behind the ear one hour before getting on the bus.

There is a folk saying that ginger can relieve motion sickness. Putting a piece of fresh ginger in your mouth or drinking some ginger juice can also relieve the discomfort of motion sickness. You may want to give it a try. Also remember to prepare a vomit bag to avoid embarrassing journeys.

Cold: Children should be careful when using antibiotics instead of adult medicines

During the Spring Festival, the climate varies greatly from place to place. For some people who go home, returning from the warm Guangzhou to their hometowns with temperatures below zero degrees Celsius is definitely a test for their health. In such a big gap, it is easy to catch a cold. At this time, you can bring some cold medicines such as Isatis Root Granules, Vitamin C Yinqiao Tablets, and Baijiahei. In order to prevent "getting angry" during the journey and sore throat, you can also bring some Jinsuozi and Xiguashuang lozenges.

If you travel with your baby, you should remember to prepare special cold medicines for your baby, such as children's cold and heat-clearing granules, children's antipyretic patches, etc. Never give adult medicines to your baby. Once your baby has a fever during the trip, you should use antibiotics with caution. It is best to use antipyretics reasonably and cooperate with physical cooling.

Diarrhea: Replenish water and electrolytes promptly

It's time to go out, and the mood is in a highly stressful state. It's hard to ensure food hygiene. Many people often rely on a bucket of instant noodles for lunch and dinner, which can easily cause diarrhea and gastrointestinal discomfort. In addition, there are many people on the bus, and you have to queue up to go to the toilet, but your stomach keeps growling, which makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Experts remind that to prevent and treat diarrhea, you can prepare some berberine, Imodium capsules or Smecta powder. If there is no bacterial infection, try not to use antibiotics. For those with severe diarrhea, add antidiarrheal drugs, and replenish water and electrolytes. It is best to eat less spicy food during the trip, drink more warm water, eat more fresh fruits, and prepare some stomach-strengthening and digestion-promoting tablets.

Allergies: Use moderate doses

During the Spring Festival travel season, people with allergies are prone to "relocation allergies", that is, allergies caused by biological or chemical allergens when they suddenly move to a new place after living in one place for a long time. Allergic people will usually have some small bumps or blisters on their feet and calves, and they will itch a lot. Sometimes, if you scratch them carelessly, it will cause infection. At this time, you should bring some anti-allergic drugs such as chlorpheniramine and astemizole.

Commonly used anti-allergic drugs include antihistamines, allergic reaction mediator blockers, sebaceous gland hormones and calcium supplements. No matter which anti-allergic drug you use, you should keep in mind that the dosage should be moderate. This is because anti-allergic drugs have side effects. It is not advisable to take a certain anti-allergic drug for a long time or in large doses. Otherwise, it will not only easily cause the drug to become ineffective, but also cause various adverse reactions and even toxic side effects in severe cases. If you are not clear about the dosage of the drug you are taking, it is best to consult a professional doctor before starting your journey.

Increase ventilation and exhaust in your environment as much as possible, and strengthen the cleaning of seats, berths, etc. Wearing a mask and long-sleeved clothes can help avoid inhalation or skin contact with allergens.

Li Guohao suggested that medicine is toxic to some extent, and if you can avoid taking medicine, try not to take it, according to your physical condition. Generally, the side effects of commonly used medicines are relatively small, but you must take them according to the dosage in the instructions or follow the doctor's advice. Do not take expired medicines, and even pay special attention to the expiration date of some bottled medicines after opening them.

Travel Tips

1. When traveling long distances, you need to supplement vitamins. If conditions permit, bring more vegetables and fruits. If not, bring some vitamin C lozenges.

2. Bring iodine and band-aids. It is inevitable to stumble and fall during the journey, so it is definitely a good idea to bring iodine and band-aids.

3. Friends who have chronic diseases should prepare common medicines when traveling. For example, patients with hypertension should bring antihypertensive drugs.

4. The use of medication for children is special and must be used with caution.

5. Don't sit for too long. Many people experience leg edema in the car, mostly due to poor blood flow. Walk around a bit and move your limbs more. (Reporter Li Heng, Correspondent Huang Yuexing, Wei Xing)
