What color is the dried lily?

Dried lily is white or slightly yellow. The best quality ones are slightly transparent, natural in color, dry, and without moldy black spots. Dried lily is oblong, 2-5cm long, 1-2cm wide, and 1.3-4mm thick in the middle. There are several vertical and parallel white vascular bundles. The top is slightly pointed, the base is wider, the edge is thin, wavy, and slightly curved inward. The texture is hard and brittle, the cross section is relatively flat, and horny. The smell is slight and the taste is slightly bitter.

The color of dried lilies should not be too white, and the natural yellow-white color is preferred. Those that are too white may have been fumigated with sulfur. Identification method: Normal sulfur-free dried lilies are sallow and dull in color, and not very good looking, while sulfur-containing dried lilies are slightly yellow or white after being bleached with sulfur; sulfur-free dried lilies are very crisp and not weighing, while sulfur-containing dried lilies are not completely dried to reduce costs, so they are relatively soft and not as crisp as sulfur-free ones.

How to identify dried lily

Take 1g of the powder of this product, add 10ml of methanol, ultrasonically treat for 20 minutes, filter, and concentrate the filtrate to 1ml as the test solution. Take another 1g of lily control medicinal material and prepare the control medicinal material solution in the same way. According to the thin layer chromatography method (Appendix ⅥB), take 10μl of each of the above two solutions and spot them on the same silica gel G thin layer plate, use the upper layer solution of petroleum ether (60-90℃)-ethyl acetate-formic acid (15:5:1) as the developing solvent, develop, take out, dry, spray with 10% phosphomolybdic acid ethanol solution, and heat until the spots are clearly colored. In the chromatogram of the test product, spots of the same color appear at the corresponding position of the chromatogram of the control medicinal material.

Does dried lily need to be soaked?

Dried lilies are generally used to make soups and porridge, and they are more durable. In this case, they generally do not need to be soaked in advance, and they are easy to cook. However, if you want to make tea, you may want to soak them first. Of course, you can choose not to soak them, and you can still drink them, just soak them for a little longer.
