The occurrence of lochia after giving birth is a phenomenon that must be experienced. When the child is born, there are residual wastes in the body that need to be discharged, so this is called lochia. Because each pregnant woman has a different physique, the time it takes to discharge lochia is also different, but generally it will take about 20 days to finish. Is it normal to have postpartum lochia three months after giving birth? Is it normal to have postpartum lochia three months after giving birth? The duration of postpartum lochia is about four to six weeks. Normal postpartum lochia has a fishy smell, but no peculiar smell. The first three to four days after giving birth is called stubborn lochia. Stubborn lochia is bright red in color and has a large amount, and sometimes small blood clots can be seen. After about three to four days, the color of lochia will gradually become lighter and turn dark red. The dark red postpartum lochia will last about ten days. Ten days later, this type of lochia will gradually turn into milky white lochia. The milky white lochia is thicker and will last for about three weeks. If the uterus is not fully repaired, or the embryo or fetal membrane is retained, there is also the possibility of combined infection, which will cause the lochia to last for a long time, especially the persistent lochia, and it may be accompanied by an odor. If postpartum lochia persists for a long time, you need to go to the hospital for a detailed postpartum examination as soon as possible to see if there is any incomplete uterine repair, or to check if there are any remnants of the embryo or fetal membrane. Under normal circumstances, the lochia of parturients lasts about 42 days. Therefore, it is normal to have lochia 40 days after giving birth. Generally, the lochia is red in the first three days after giving birth, which is called stubborn lochia. Over the next ten days or so, the lochia becomes dark red, which is called serous lochia. This is followed by milky white postpartum lochia, which lasts for about two weeks. 40 days after giving birth, the lochia should be milky white. If it turns red or dark red first, it is abnormal. You should go to the hospital for a color Doppler ultrasound examination to see whether there are any remnants of the embryo or fetal membrane in the uterine cavity, as well as the contraction of the uterus. |
