A large neck, is it because you are fat or sick?

Nowadays, girls are paying more and more attention to their image management, not only their skin but also their figure.

If I see an extra wrinkle on my neck, I might cry for a long time and swear that I will never look down at my phone again. The self-discipline of a beauty-loving girl is so attractive.

When I saw my neck getting thicker, I immediately started to reflect on myself: “Have I been too unrestrained recently?”

Stop, stop, stop! A thicker neck may not be caused by your uncontrollable mouth. It may also be caused by a time bomb hidden under your neck!

Suddenly I began to realize that something was wrong with my neck, but I didn't worry.

Dongdongmiao suggests that you go to the hospital for a check-up to rule out whether you have thyroid nodules.

Thyroid nodules refer to lumps inside the thyroid gland, which can be as small as 1mm-2mm or as large as 5cm-10cm. They can move up and down with the thyroid gland as you swallow. An obvious external manifestation is a thickening of the neck.

When the nodule grows to a certain size, it will squeeze the nearby trachea, esophagus, and laryngeal nerves, causing a series of discomfort reactions, and small physical signals such as night sweats, insomnia, frequent dreams, weakness in the waist and knees, and excessive phlegm may also appear.

Data show that the number of people suffering from thyroid nodules is increasing every year worldwide, and the incidence is showing a trend of becoming younger.

Don’t be scared. Thyroid nodules can usually be detected through B-ultrasound. It is important to keep up with physical examinations and screening.

According to relevant medical research, the detection rate of thyroid nodules through palpation is 3% to 7%, and the detection rate with the help of high-resolution ultrasound is as high as 20% to 76%, of which only 5% to 15% are malignant tumors.

It can be seen that except for a few benign nodules and most malignant nodules that require surgical treatment, most thyroid nodules only require non-surgical treatment.

Calcification is a highly specific malignant feature of thyroid nodules.

When some people hear the doctor say "thyroid nodules with calcification" during a thyroid ultrasound examination, they think that calcification means cancer, which increases their fear.
This is not the case.

Although the incidence of calcification of malignant nodules is higher than that of benign nodules, thyroid nodules with calcification do not necessarily mean thyroid cancer.

Calcification is mainly divided into coarse, patchy and arcuate calcification, which is generally caused by local "malnutrition" of the thyroid gland. Most of them are small and sand-like. Calcification is characteristic of thyroid cancer and the manifestation needs to be paid close attention.

Thyroid nodules are related to genetic factors. Usually, these patients have certain defects in genetic enzymes, which will cause thyroid hormones to grow slowly and be unable to separate and enter the blood, which will also cause thyroid nodules.

If you suffer from thyroid nodules, you must pay attention to the proper intake of iodine-containing foods.
If your work and rest schedule is unreasonable and irregular, and you often stay up late, it will cause hormonal disorders in your body and affect the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, which can easily lead to the formation of nodules.

In addition, aging, obesity, high blood pressure, high blood lipids, diabetes, and smoking are all risk factors for developing thyroid nodules.

Thyroid nodule cancer is relatively more likely to occur in men, people who consume a high-iodine diet, and those who have a history of head radiation or exposure to radiation in childhood.

However, more than 90% of thyroid cancers are curable. Thyroid cancer is truly a "lazy cancer." It doesn't like to move and doesn't grow easily.
Even if a thyroid nodule is diagnosed as thyroid cancer, as long as you actively cooperate with the treatment, the prognosis of most thyroid cancers is very good.
