The whole body is itchy, and the doctor reminds: This is a distress signal of serious pancreatic problems

Mr. Liu, who is in his 50s, has always been in good health. In order to combat the damage to his body caused by drinking and socializing all year round, he also actively exercises. He pays special attention to any abnormalities in his body.

Not long ago, he suddenly felt itchy all over. He instinctively thought that he was allergic to something he had eaten. So he bought anti-allergy medicine and controlled his drinking.

At the same time, he even disinfected the sheets and personal belongings at home, but it didn't seem to work. His body was getting more and more itchy, making him unable to sleep all night. In order to relieve the itch, he scratched his skin frantically.

After a week, he couldn't stand it any longer. On the one hand, in order to relieve the itching, a lot of his skin was already horrible; on the other hand, he found that his body seemed to be gradually turning yellow. Especially his eyes, that yellow was completely abnormal.

He let go of everything and finally decided to go to the hospital for a thorough check-up.

At this time, he still had a fluke mentality, thinking that he might have a skin disease, so he registered for a dermatologist.

When he arrived at the dermatology department, the doctor only took a look at him and sent him to the general surgery department.

When the dermatologist saw that his skin was so yellow, he knew it was definitely not a skin disease. Therefore, he did not dare to delay and sent him directly to the general surgery department.

When he arrived at the general surgery department, the doctor was very familiar with this kind of disease. After only a preliminary examination, he had a clue. So, he arranged a number of targeted examinations for him.

The results came out, and they were the same as the judgment: pancreatic tumor, highly suspected to be malignant.

Why can’t the diagnosis be confirmed directly?

This is because some benign tumors can also produce clinical manifestations similar to malignant tumors due to their location and rapid growth. For example, if they compress the bile duct and cause biliary obstruction, they can also cause high bilirubin and yellow skin.

At this point, the cause of the problem has been figured out. The direct cause of his itching and yellow body is bilirubin obstruction. As for what the tumor that caused the obstruction is, further examination is needed.

Since various auxiliary methods can only judge but not confirm the disease, surgery is necessary. On the one hand, it can quickly find out the nature of the tumor; on the other hand, it can quickly relieve the obstruction and improve the symptoms.

However, although the plan was good, it was not so easy to implement. When the operation information was sent to the anesthesiology department, the anesthesiology department found that Mr. Liu's physical condition was very poor. Although he was still in high spirits and had good nutrition, he was actually weak inside.

After a systematic evaluation, we found that there were several major aspects of his body that could affect the success of the surgery:

A transaminase level of over 400 indicates liver damage. The liver is a detoxification organ and will inevitably affect the metabolism of anesthetic drugs during surgery.

The liver is closely related to the body's coagulation function. It can synthesize plasma fibrinogen and various coagulation factors, such as coagulation factors V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XII, and is of great significance in the body's coagulation physiological process.

At this time, due to damaged liver function, his coagulation indicators were abnormal.

At first, the anesthesiologist considered giving him a combination of general anesthesia and epidural anesthesia, but the coagulation state forced the anesthesia plan to be changed, and only general anesthesia could be implemented to minimize the risk.

After examination, it was found that there was another important problem facing the anesthesiologist: due to the toxic effects of bilirubin, his heart rate was very slow and he had irregular heartbeat.

After analysis, it was found that slow heart rate was the cause of inhibition of the cardiac conduction system; arrhythmia might be abnormal cardiac conduction at a slower heart rate.

Although the patient was eager to be cured and surgical treatment could not be delayed, the anesthesiology department, considering the complexity of the disease, bargained with the surgery department and hoped to take some measures before the operation to improve the patient's ability to resist risks.

Finally, after discussion, everyone unanimously decided that the surgery must be scheduled as soon as possible. At the same time, measures to protect the liver, reduce transaminases, and nourish the heart must be taken. If necessary, blood transfusions should be performed to regulate the coagulation system.

After a few days of adjustment, Mr. Liu's health had improved to a certain extent. Seeing his physical condition had improved, everyone immediately decided to perform surgery on him.

Fortunately, Mr. Liu's condition is not malignant. It is because of his long-term social activities that he has developed chronic pancreatitis. A cyst has formed in the head of the pancreas. This time, he developed acute pancreatitis again because of frequent social activities recently. The edematous pancreatic tissue and the cyst compressed at the same time, resulting in tumor-like symptoms.

After this experience, he decided to bid farewell to the drinking world and cherish the rest of his life.
